Someone contacted me through email about this and I agreed to play and GM. I haven't heard anything, so let me know if you still need another. If not, that's okay and I'll eagerly witness the bloodshed.

It's been a while now since round one and since then we've seen the introduction of the automated system. Are we going to be migrating to OTTO for this or keeping it manually adjudicated ? Also, I take it that points from the last round will still be carried forward ?

I think it would be hard to port it over to OTTO anyway, as you'd have to do work to set up a bunch of private games each time, and monitor them anyway for NMRs etc. How to deal with replacements is also an issue.

Having some manually GM'd games on Redscape would be preferable.

By the way, for next time, can we have as a rule that a player can't be allocated the same nation twice in a row? I'm getting tired of playing England.

I do know what you mean Randy. There's something slightly soulless about the automated games for sure. In fairness though, there's also a few useful features. I particularly like the way you can tell precisely who has placed their orders or how long it's been since they last logged in. Also, communication really isn't terribly different, and in many ways it's easier because it's all there in one place so you can quickly hop from one player to the next and message them rather than have to deal with multiple email threads. But yeah, I'm quite happy to keep it to the old school method.

If you still need someone I am available, is this for newbies too? I am new to this site and am not familiar with all the games. Just trying to learn and become an adequate player.

There are two simple ways to do it. Either you check after a each position is drawn and rerun it if it means a player has a duplicate. Or, you draw by nation from the 35 players who didn't play t before.

Will the rather secretive 3-person teams from the first round still be involved in this tournament in any way?

It's another factor that would complicate game assignments. Right now teammates might be assigned to the same game.

Personally, I'd rather just drop the whole team aspect. What fun is it, if we aren't making up team names and logos, trash talking with other teams, and so on?

I would be interested in joining a game.....it has been awhile since I played Diplomacy, but I don't think it should take long to get back into it. If you still have openings count me in.

Are you the same beerslug that played at Apolyton, if you are, you need a little more practice from what I remember. I remember you were schooled by a couple of guys there in an Imperial game.
