Yeah I had to post something before the inevitable decline occurs...
It's been fun so far...I have learned a few things as a result of my previous failures I think.

No longer in first but holding my own.http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/tournament/23

In second league (which only has a. 60 million dollar salary cap)I started out 5-10 and had to do a major reconstruction (went out and got Richards,Cashner snd Cobb and replaced Turner and McHenry with much cheaper players ). I thought I could get by with a cheap pitching staff (but with good relief ) with a power team in a power park, with Turner and McHenry being on- base guys to help when I went to pitching parks. But it didn't work, so I kept the power and went with better pitching. It seems to have worked-- I have gone 14-4 since then.

I'm rooting for you, Freeman.

I've been missing the game lately but there's simply no time to put into it. Maybe next year's tourney.

Thanks. I would definitely recommend doing the tournament next year if you have the time.

Tied for 3rd place so far. Nice.

This is really a marathon, isn't it? Three of the five qualifying events haven't even started.

The 3rd event has started. I wound up winning the championship in my league in the 1st event (regular season was 95-67). My second event is mediocre, I have been around .500 all year and a cold streak sees me at 55-59. I thought I had a pretty good third event team but I did not have a very strong line-up against lefties and sure enough two of the teams in my division had all lefty starter teams. I tweaked my team and I think can match up with those teams now (I started 2-4 against those teams) and my record is 4-5. So, so far, had the one good team and that's driving my ranking.

By the way, so far I have had a prior winner of the tournament in my division in each of the first three events.

Looks like the entry leagues will be all wrapped up in a month or so. At this point, you're looking good for a place at the semi-finals table. Keep it up!

Hope I didn't jinx you :uhoh:

Hopefully, I make it. The problem is that teams can drop their worst score and that could significantly help teams that are below me that do well in the 5th event. I have looked at the teams that are behind me and I think I'll probably get in but with all the contingencies involved it's hard to tell.
I won't be helped by dropping a score because my fifth event is my worst. I got put in a division with the guy who appears to be the best manager in the league (and who is leading the tour by a wide margin) AND two other former winners. Then I experimented by choosing Coors Field and with a cheap pitching staff (but good against one-side)...disaster. I have experimented with each team so far with different types of teams for each event but if I get to the semis I'll go with something that has worked before.

Made it to the semis. Been playing in some warm-up leagues and have not done that well (I much prefer 5/10/20 leagues where you can tweak your team and auto leagues are 20% penalty as soon as the league starts--fortunately the tournament is all 5/10/20). We'll see how it goes...

Well, not surprisingly, I got crushed in the semis...

I kind of went crazy with teams at the end of the year...

You know you did.

I'm really looking forward to that next iteration of SOM.
