By the way - looks like you got a tough draw on divisions. Two of your rivals were in the playoffs in the first league including the league winner. I don't know any of the other players so my draw could be just as tough.

Swept by your Sluggers with two shutouts. I don't know why my team cannot generate runs - it's an embarrassment!

I was watching the games and thinking are the Cows ever going to score! And my pitching has been the league worst (though my pitching has been better, except for the series prior, since I improved the defense) Your offense has some good players so it doesn't make sense...

Just scored 24 runs in a game and took 2 out of three from Arizona...Team is pretty good when healthy but lots of injuries and it just seems to fall apart when I lose a player (because I don't have anyone that is any good to replace them). Live by the platoon, die by the platoon...

The Cows performance is improving but I don't think I can overcome that 2-13 start. Maybe I'll pull 19 in a row like Confused did. I hope my league message jinxed his streak. It's not a talkative bunch, huh?

I see many changes afoot on the Sluggers roster. Hope it works out for you.

Yeah, looks like you have been pretty competitive since you had a slow start. I am just muddling along in my mediocrity...I basically just got some players to cover for injuries which have been killing me.Every time I have been able to field my team I have done well, but I can't seem to get a sweep and when I have injuries I start losing and also get swept. So I got three decent players to cover for injuries to guys like Harper, Gutierrez and especially Howard and we'll see how it goes.

I just don't see myself paying $20 per season so I did some looking around and found this simulation run by FoxSports: WhatIfSports

One season costs $13 or a six-pack for $10 each. I'm playing in a ten game exhibition league right now. It looks like you can choose any player from any season (I chose mostly 2013 players since I'm familiar with the SOM set). It has potential though I'm daunted by the player universe size. I think you can join leagues that restrict the set but I'm not positive.

Here's my second game: Game 2

Thanks for the tip, Mike. It looks interesting. I signed up for the 10 game league.

I tried this league out. The team I put together is junk but I think the main issue is I like the replay in stratomatic better. I don't think $20 would hold me back from playing. If you get 15-20 minutes of entertainment per night that works to maybe ten hours a season or $2 an hour. The real question is whether I will continue to enjoy putting teams together or whether replay will wane.

Maybe down the road I'll reconsider another SOM season. After checking out a few others, I think I like their set-up the best. For now, though, I've got enough on my plate to fill my limited free time.

More importantly, we've got a very big series tonight, don't we?

Yes we do! The Cows are averaging 2 runs a game against my "all-star" pitching staff. But the Cows have been playing well recently...should be interesting.

The Cows out-slugged the Sluggers to take the series 2-1. Just fell a bit short in games 1 and 3. (11-8, 7-1, and 4-3).

Yes but you beaned three of my guys and put them out of commission for a few games. They are some of my best hitters against lefties and we face Bumgarner in the opening game tonight. Naturally, they're all back for games 2 & 3 to face righties.

Well, at least they just got dinged a little...injuries have been a real problem for my team...when healthy my team has been able to beat just about anybody. I thought on the road in your pitcher's ballpark I thought I might have trouble scoring...but I scored enough runs, I just allowed too many runs, myself.

I was trying to be conscious of that when putting my team together. I'm in the middle of the pack with 73 games lost to injury. You're up there with 123 but the Dragons take the cake at 167. Yikes.
