What is interesting is the timing of the latest issues. Naz Shah's comments were from before she became an MP, and that was last year. So why does it become an issue a week before the elections and at the same time as the Government is in the middle of a dispute with the Junior Doctors (with the latter being more popular so far)....

Of course, PM Netanyahu only recently said that Hitler had been working with the Zionists, is he also an anti-semite?

However, can you tell me which holocaust deniers Corbyn has shared a platform with apart from Paul Eisen? Which ones is he "in the pocket of"?

There is a problem - criticism of Israel, of the use of occupied territories and of the treatment of Arabs is legitimate. Sometimes, people go too far with it, and undermine the argument with antisemitic language or attitudes. On the other hand, of course, some are quick to label even sensible criticism of current Zionist policies as being antisemitic, and that is used to shut down debate.

There has been a surge in Labour membership in the past year, both in the build up to the General election and then during the leadership campaign and early days of his tenure. So many that I think it would be hard to properly vet people. And in among them can be all kinds of opinions - there have been individuals who have been investigated.

It is hard, because if you want to allow free expression, you have to allow some dissent.

Here is the other side to it, Jews who support Corbyn's leadership.

https://jewsforjeremy.org/2016/04/29/an ... our-party/

Where real instances of anti-Jewish bigotry have come to light, the leadership and party machine have taken robust action.

According to The Spectator, the party’s general secretary Iain McNicol told a recent meeting of Labour lawmakers that everyone who had been reported for anti-Semitism had either been suspended or excluded.

Corbyn has responded to the media storm by repeatedly condemning anti-Semitism and saying that anyone making an anti-Semitic remark is “auto-excluded from the party.”

John McDonnell, the shadow finance minister and a long-standing Corbyn ally, told The Independent that any party member found by an investigation to be expressing anti-Semitic views should be expelled for life. “If people express these views, full stop they’re out,” McDonnell said.

It came to light on Guido Fawkes I believe. How he came across it is not known of course, but honestly does it matter ? Not like this dates back to the 80s or something, she posted it less than two years ago when she was already a Parliamentary candidate. It's pretty obvious why, because she was attempting to pander to racists in the Bradford Muslim community. Her apology rings hollow in the circumstances. It's quite possible that she doesn't really subscribe to those views, but that's arguably worse because it suggests that she's quite happy to cynically deploy bigotry to campaign for votes. This is a problem for Labour, and especially for the Corbyn clique given their longstanding alliance with Islamists.

The feature of recent London Mayoral campaigning has been Tories smearing Sadiq Khan over links to an extremist Muslim (who also has links with the Conservatives and Zac Goldsmith), and using dog whistles in communications to people who they think are Sikh or Hindu.

I think the issue has been used and timed to help that effort.

But even if not, there is an issue in other parties: http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... o-politics

He's shared platforms with various representatives of Hamas, Hezbollah and their front organisations. His powerbase in the party is the Stop The War crowd, who include among their number all kinds of trots and islamists. His own head of strategy is one of the most virulent 'anti-zionists' in the UK, who is on record as defending the actions of terrorists when they killed Israelis (and Brits, and certainly Americans...). The views expressed by Shah and Livingstone are mainstream among Corbyn's circle and have been for decades. They used to be a cooky fringe but now Corbyn has appointed them to senior positions in the party. If he's serious about cracking down on anti-semitism in the Labour party (which doesn't seem to be given how reluctant he was to act) then he'd probably have to expel himself.
