Are you certain this would require each owner to purchase the software? That's $40 for each year (assuming we always use the newest cards) so I'm not sure I see the advantage over using the online leagues.

[edit]
Not having a Mac version is also problematic if that's the case.

Well, I guess I can change line-ups and preferences by hand but then it gets very time-consuming I would think. Here is a stratomatic league; look at the game instructions to get an idea. http://usfleagues.net/usfbl/usfbl.htm

That does sound like a huge hassle. Unfortunately, I don't think I could do the PC program. It's not the $40 but rather the fact that I don't own one. I use one at work but I'm off for six weeks over the summer which I assume would be part of our season.

On to plan B, I think.

That league has a LOT of rules!

C'mon Redscapers, let's play some baseball!

Freeman has created a web-based SOM league with a live draft! (Really? Back-to-back with the RBL auction, Freeman?!)

You get your first two leagues for $15 so its not a big investment. Besides, you can earn SOM credits if you do well! Of 12 teams, 1st place gets two league credits, 2nd & 3rd get one each.

Here's the website: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/

After you start a team, choose the 2013 cards, live draft, and $80 m budget. Then you'll see Freeman's private league - titled Redscape, of course. The password to enter is 'diplomacy'.

If you're not sure, you still have time to get in on a 7-day free trial league.

What about ballparks? The system allows multiple teams in the same one but there is something inherently unsatisfying to that. Can we do a ballpark selection draft (say, via email), prior to the player draft?

Draft time is open to debate ( I put it at same date of ESPN draft, just to get both drafts done at the same time, but that might be a little much)...Yeah, some kind of draft for ballparks would be fine...thanks for marketing the league, Mike.

Look at that, Freeman, we have our own forum. Now all we need are more players....

I'll post the marketing email I sent out.

Freeman will be creating another league although I don't know the timing of it yet. If anyone is interested in giving the simulation a go, newbies can still get in at 2 leagues for $15. We hope to see more Redscapers come on board!
