The final lap looms with most cars having minimal wear remaining.

Turn 25 Summary

Harley, Hoyt, Benham, & Fritz all take their turns through T16 at 100 each for free. Hudson does the the same but gets hung in the corner.

Bernhardt plots 120 but with his ideal path blocked, he burns off some speed in the T15 100's for a wear then readies T16 on the line. Scarpino, at 100, takes the T15 line before pulling into the exhaust of the #43.

Harrington knocks down a wear at 120 on the T15 line. Snouffer takes the T13 line for free at 140.

Bauska takes an RM plot at 120 through T13 (1 wear penalty). Weisen rolls into the banked turn at 100, staying on the inner rail for a wear.

Harley gets the white flag but has plenty of company as we go into the final lap.

Turn 26 Summary

Harley takes his car across the S/F line at 140. Hoyt pushes his engine (Acc/Top; naked 9/4) to pull even with the race leader.

Benham earns the bonus and at 140 stays with the leaders. Fritz also crosses the S/F line at 140.

Hudson finishes out T16 at 100. Bernhardt burns 2 tires to get around T16 on the line at 140. His nose is across the S/F line as he tucks in front of the #72.

Scarpino and Harrington take the T16 line at 100 each for free.

Snouffer runs T15 on the line for a wear at 120. He then enters T16 on the line for another. Bauska rolls around T15 on the line at 100.

Weisen pulls out of the horseshoe at 100. Teaching moment: He could have increased speed to 120 on the inside lane or 140 on the outer lane w/ corner wear already paid.

The cars bunch up around Turn 1.

Turn 27 Summary

Harley posts 120 then late brakes to 100 (naked 7). His stressed brake system survives and he tosses his last wear onto the T1 line. Hoyt, at 120, opts to take the outer rail in T1 for 2 wear before pulling in behind the race leader on the T3 line.

Benham avoids trouble by tapping down to 80 and taking the T1 line for free. He gets the slip and moves up to 2nd place. Fritz follows him in at 100 to knock down a wear in T1.

Bernhardt pulls up to the T1 line at 120. Hudson, at 140, runs to the inside and takes back his previously lost position.

Scarpino tucks in on the tailpipe of the #72 racer at 160. Harrington, also at 160, stays on the bumper of the #2 machine.

Snouffer finishes out T16 at 120 and nudges his nose into lap 3. Bauska runs the T16 line for free at 100.

Weisen rounds T13 on the line at 140 before scrubbing off 2 wear on the T15 line.

Turn 28 Deadline: Monday, July 1st @ 8 a.m. EST (12 noon GMT)
Expect some late adjudications over the next several weeks but, at this point, the deadlines will remain 8 Eastern on M/W/F.

This turn has some of everything... chance rolls, NPR's, lead changes, and general confusion.

Turn 28 Summary

At 80, Harley opts to throw caution to the wind and grabs the dice cup on the chance table (naked 8). He spins in the corner, mucking it up for some of those behind. He will restart at 40 next turn.

Benham is unaffected by the spin since his 80 plot puts him through the 40 spot and 2 wear. He is the new race leader. Hoyt would have preferred the line at 80 but will have to settle for the outer rail and a wear.

Fritz is another racer unaffected by the spun car. He plots 80 and attacks T3 on the inside rail for 2 wear to clear it and grab 2nd place.

Bernhardt has initiative at 100. He runs the T1 line for a wear before shooting into T3 on the outside for 2 wear, avoiding the yellow & black blur in the middle of the track. Hudson over brakes to 80 for a wear then takes the 80's for free and grabs the T3 line.

Scarpino drops a tire to over brake to 80. He runs the T1 line for free. Harrington plots 120 (for a 1 wear over brake) then late brakes to 100 w/ 1s (modified 7). With no place to go if he uses the line, he runs the corner in the 80's for a wear.

Snouffer pulls up to T1 on the line at 120. Bauska rolls across the S/F line at 140.

Weisen suffers his 2nd NPR penalty (2w) with the RM plot taking him through T16 at 100 on the line for free.

A failed dice roll could make this race very interesting indeed.

Turn 29 Summary

Benham wants to stretch his lead by plotting 160. He passes the Acc roll (naked 8) but then his engine complains loudly on the top speed test (naked 10). A re-plot to 140 and some engine damage ensue.

Fritz has initiative and pushes his engine to hit 140 w/ 2s (modified 5) to keep the pace. Hoyt, at 120, falls in behind the #23.

Harley recovers from his spin at 40 and blocks the line. Bernhardt finishes out T3 at 100.

Hudson drops a wear at 80 on the outer rail. Scarpino slows to 40 and clears the corner for free.

Harrington finds an open line and the exit row at 80 for a wear. Snouffer runs T1 at 80 for free.

Bauska clips a tire at 100 on the T1 line. Weisen pushes the power plant to 180 w/ 2s (modified 7) and is the last to cross into lap 3.

Things are tightening up at the front while a big pack of cars looms behind.

Turn 30 Summary

Benham eases back on the throttle to 120. Fritz and Hoyt pull in behind the race leader at 140 each (the latter opts out of the slip) to form a mini-conga line at the front.

Bernhardt pushes his engine to 140 with a skill chip (modified 10). The dice gods reject his offering and Paul is now forced to roll dice any time he pressures the gas pedal. Harley turns to the dice cup as well just to get his car up to 100 (naked 7).

Harrington has the initiative coming out of T3. At 140, he tucks in front of the #27 machine. Hudson goes next, pushing to 140 (naked 8) and stays to the outside of the #32 Ford. Scarpino is last out of the gate, using 2s to bring his racer up to 120 (modified 8). He has the bumper on Hudson's Chevy.

Snouffer burns a wear on the T3 line at 80. Bauska, at 100, clips a tire and throws his big chip on the chance table (modified 3) to clear T3. Weisen knocks down a wear in T1 at 100, maintaining lines throughout.

The race is fluid at the top with a new leader. The primary chase pack approaches the slow Turn 4 with a few cars coming in hot.

Turn 31 Summary

Benham slows to 80 and grabs the line. Fritz, at 100, dives to the inside lane and the race lead. Hoyt pulls into Benham's exhaust at 100.

Bernhardt keeps his compromised engine at a sedate 120. Harrington pulls even with the #43 at 160. Hudson, at 140, tucks in behind the baby blue Ford.

Scarpino has the initiative at 160 to take Harrington's bumper. Harley keeps the pace at 140 and the bonus, creating a 3-wide going into T4.

Snouffer goes to the dice cup at 160 (naked 7)*. Bauska drops the hammer to 180, requiring 2 dice rolls onto which he puts 2s each (modified 1 & 4). He has Snouffer's tail. Weisen burns a wear on the T3 line at 80.

*Note: I remembered to roll this after all the graphics were ready so you won't see it on the chart.

The three cars in front have cleared T4 while the chase pack gets jammed up.

Turn 32 Summary

Fritz slows to 60 and drops his last wear on the T4 inner rail. Benham runs the T4 line at 60 for free while Hoyt does the same to clear the corner.

Harrington has initiative at 140. He late brakes to 120 with the dice (naked 10) but the failed roll results in brake damage plus a wear. With insufficient wear to enter the corner (even with a chance roll), he must brake down to 80. He loses his last wear towards that effort but even then comes up short. That spins him in front of the corner.

Bernhardt, at 100, skirts the spun car and rolls into the T4 60's for 2 wear. Harley gets the initiative at 120 then late brakes to 100 (naked 8). With the line occupied, he opts for the middle lane.

Hudson takes the inside lane at 100. Scarpino plots 100 but with no place to put his car, must late brake to 80 (1 wear). He has the racing line behind the spinning car.

Snouffer races towards the corner at 160 and catches the big crowd at the turn. Bauska, at 140 and the bonus, pulls in behind the Miller Lite Ford on the line. Weisen rolls down the straight at 160.

The dice gods are in a very foul mood and show why life is eminently unfair...

Turn 33 Summary

Fritz lays down his last skill point to hit 120 down the straight (modified 6). Benham, at 120, tucks into his exhaust. Hoyt pushes his engine to go 120. It resists but he forces it to comply (naked 9) and brings up the rear of a mini-conga line.

Bernhardt is caught napping and loses a wear for the NPR penalty. The car continues at 100. Hudson also misses the deadline. He must save his last wear for the penalty, resulting in an over-brake to 40 with dice (naked 12). The dice gods say 'no', costing that one wear and brake damage. At the end of the turn, he goes into a spin with no wear left to pay the penalty.

Harley throws caution to the wind, rolling into the T4 60's at 80 on the chance table (naked 12). His car breaks through the tire barrier after which it burtss into flames. Harrington recovers from his spin at 60 but must also pass a crash avoidance test at -2 (modified 5). He's good to go.

Snouffer over brakes to 80 w/ his last skill point (modified 3). He clips 2 tires in the 40 spot but must still roll for crash avoidance at -2 (modified 10). Unbelievable - a 3rd set of boxcars sends Ty out of the race. Russ, if the crash didn't take you out, Ty may when you get to the paddock. Scarpino, at 60 follows up the #32 for free. He passes his crash avoidance test with ease at -3 (modified 3). Edit: A 2nd crash involvement test was also passed at -3 (modified 5) since the car entered the same row as Snouffer's crash.

Bauska over brakes to 80 with his last 2 skill (modified 5). He runs the outer rail in T4 for a wear and successfully skirts the wreckage at -3 (modified 5). Weisen drops the hammer to 180 w/ 1sp (modified 5) and grabs the T4 line. He's moving up the leader board simply via attrition.

The only action this turn is over in the paddock where Ty is letting Russ know what he thinks about last turn's maneuver.

Turn 34 Summary

Fritz, Benham, & Hoyt weave through the racing lines in T6 and T8 at 120 each. The latter two opt out of their slip opportunities.

Bernhardt tenderly nears his machine to T6 at 100. Harrington and Scarpino fall in line at 120 each.

Hudson is limited to 40 as he recovers from his spin. Bauska ramps up to 140 and draws even with the white machine.

Weisen has plenty of brakes to bring his racer down to 100, burning 2 tires on the T4 line.

We're seeing double as Mater hauls the wrecked cars off the track.

How many cars will finish this race?

Turn 35 Summary

Fritz rolls into the banked corner at 100 for free on the inside. Benham gets more out of his harassed engine at 140 (naked 5) to spend his last wear on the outside. He sits next to the race leader as both cars fly around the banked corner, a unique feature of this track. Hoyt, at 120, runs into the T10 120's for free.

Bernhardt continues at 100, ending on the apex of T8. Harrington, at 120, gets pushed to the outer rail in T8.

Bauska has initiative at 140. He burns off speed in T6 on the outer rail before settling on the line for T8. Scarpino, at 120, maintains his position on the inside.

Hudson takes an NPR plot of 80. However, with no wear to pay the penalty (2nd NPR), he both spins and takes brake damage. With the brakes previously compromised, the car comes off the track.

Weisen takes his third RM plot. He runs the T6 line at 160 on the line to clear for a wear before taking the 2 wear penalty.

This will be quite a contest for the win...

Turn 36 Summary

Benham has initiative and takes over the lead at 120. He finishes out the big corner via the 100's. Fritz continues through the 100's at speed and sits one space behind the new race leader.

Hoyt slows to 100 and will have to wait to exit the horseshoe next turn.

Bauska gets the initiative at 120. Seeing the entry to T10 filled up, he burns off speed in the T8 120's. Scarpino runs T8 at 100 and loses position to the orange machine.

Weisen brings up the rear at 120 on the T8 line and finally makes contact with the pack.

Turn 37 Deadline: Monday, July 29th @ 8 a.m. EST (12 noon GMT).

I triggered this turn early since I'm driving all day tomorrow. I'll be at the WBC's next week during which it will be difficult to find time for an adjudication (if you've been, you understand this; if you haven't, you owe it to yourself to go). Having said that, if all orders are in and time permits, I will adjudicate turns.
