Builds are in.

There are a pair of twins: Harley & Hoyt go with smaller cars with lots of wear. Both should be looking for the pole. Scarpino & Snouffer have larger cars and I suspect will be looking to break out from the middle.

The remainder are a mix of big and small engines (140 or 160) with a few extremes. Bernhardt's putt-putt will force him to plan carefully while Weisen's powerful machine is a bit skimpy on tires.

Half the field has a start speed of 60. There are four front-running 100's and only two 20's, presumably running from the back.

The field is set as the cars take turns on the track for their qualifying runs...

Jerome will be posting pics of the race in a parallel thread. He's already got the track & cars ready to go: http://redscape.com/viewtopic.php?f=209&p=59204#p59204. Nice!

The grid is set with only 2 ties.

Bids were generally high with a fairly even spread. There were no obvious value bids. For the most part, the cars are where we would expect. Harrington sneaks into the 2nd row w/ his 60 SS. That pushes Hoyt's 100 into the 3rd row. Bauska is odd man out, finding himself in the last row with a bid of 2.5. I'm not sure what Bertaiola's 20 SS is doing in row 4 but we'll see what he does with it.

Eight of twelve cars push the start as the green flag drops. Per custom, not everyone makes the roll.

I added labels to the corners for easy reference. Those are the actual turn numbers from the track. The missing turn numbers are bends in the straights that aren't worth numbering. Turn 10 is actually a combination of turns 10 and 11 on the actual track for those who take an interest in this stuff.

Turn 1 Summary

Bernhardt pushes to 120 w/ 3s and takes the line (modified 1). Benham starts at 100.

No push from Harley at 100. Harrington pushes to 80 w/ 1s (modified 5).

No push from Hoyt at 100. Hudson pushes to 80 w/ 2s (modified 4).

Fritz pushes to 80 w/ 3s (modified 1). Bertaiola pushes to 40 (naked 2).

Scarpino pushes to 80 w/ 2s (modified 3). Snouffer pushes to 80 (naked 5).

Bauska pushes to 80 w/ 2 (modified 9) and mis-shifts back to 40. Weisen plays it safe at 20.

Note the switch of the inside lane at the S/F line. Neither the #'s 2 or 51 asked for slip position so they both take the innermost default.

Bernhardt makes a bold move to give him a big lead. Can his putt-putt car keep it?

Turn 2 Summary

Bernhardt scrapes off a tire on the T1 line at 100. He then maneuvers into the T3 40 spot for 2 more wear and a dice roll w/ his big chip (modified 3). He keeps the car on the pavement and shouldn't have any company for a while.

Benham knocks down a wear on the T1 line at 100 before setting up T3 on the line. Harley runs T1 on the line for free at 80.

Harrington, rounds T1 in the 80's for 2 wear at 120. He has inside position on the #27. Hoyt, at 100, runs the T1 80's for a wear.

Hudson careens around T1 on the outer rail at 120 for free. Fritz clips 2 tires on the T1 line at 120.

Scarpino grabs the T1 line at 120. Snouffer, also at 120, takes inside position.

Bertaiola keeps the pace at 100 and the bonus. Bauska crosses the start line at 100. Weisen, also at 100, grabs the bumper on the orange machine.

Rough few days, guys. I forgot it was adjudication day which also means I forgot to send out reminders last night. Two NPR's are the result (you can't always count on those reminders, gents). Anyway, no serious harm done to the NPR cars using the new rules, other than the wear penalty.

Turn 3 Summary

Bernhardt rolls out of Turn 3 and onto the long straight at 120. Benham drops 2 tires on the Turn 3 line at 100.

Harley has initiative at 120. He late brakes w/ 2s (modified 10) and careens around the T3 line for 2 wear while smoke pours out of his brakes (1 wear & brake damage). Harrington takes an RM plot of 100 which, with the line blocked, puts him through T3 on the outer rail for 2 wear.

Fritz, at 100, is overjoyed to see an open line in T3. He takes it for 2 wear. Hoyt plots 100 and opts to brake down to 80 w/ 1s (modified 9). He passes his test which allows him to clear T3 in the 40 spot for 2 wear.

Hudson drops speed to 80 and grabs the Turn 3 line.

Snouffer clips a tire at 80 in the Turn 1 60. With the line occupied, he dives to the inside lane. Scarpino runs the T1 line for free at 80. He takes the only open space in front of T3.

Bertaiola's RM plot takes him through T1 on the line for free at 80 before tucking in behind the black & blue machine.

Bauska roars through T1 on the line at 120. He deposits 2 wear for the privilege. Weisen pulls up to Turn 1 on the line at 100.

Luca has retired from the race due to real life issues. His place is held for race 2, to be confirmed at a later date. We hope to see him again then!

Turn 4 Summary

Bernhardt, Benham, & Harley give their engines all they've got at 140.

Harrington gets the initiative coming out of Turn 3 at 160 and pulls alongside the #27. Hoyt pushes with 1sp to hit his max speed of 140 (modified 5). Fritz keeps the pace, also at 140.

At 60 mph, Snouffer clips a tire in the T3 40 spot.

Hudson has initiative at 100 and burns 2 wear on the T3 line. Scarpino, at 80, takes the 40's for 2 wear and has the bumper on the #72.

Bauska scrapes off a tire at 80 through the T3 line and hits the exit row. Weisen conserves his tires at 80 on the T1 line.

A super long straightaway and the highest speed y'all can get to is 140 mph? F1 racers can hit 200 on that part of the track.

Turn 5 Summary

Bernhardt pulls up to Turn 4 on the line at 120. Benham is a car length behind at 140.

Harley & Harrington trade paint down the straight at 140 apiece.

Hoyt makes it three-wide at 140 plus the bonus. Fritz pulls into the exhaust of the #27 at 140.

Hudson picks up the pace to 140. Snouffer tucks in behind the blue racer at 140, using 1s on the Acc roll (modified 4). Scarpino gains a spot at 140 and the slip.

Bauska pulls out of Turn 3 at 140. Weisen takes an RM plot of 60, using the T3 line for free and incurring a 1w penalty.

Some seriously aggressive driving early on!

Turn 6 Summary

Bernhardt clips 2 tires in the T4 line at 100. Benham, also at 100 keeps the pace with 2 wear of his own.

Harley plots 140 then late brakes to 120 w/ 1 wear. He dives into T4 on the line for 2 more wear and a roll on the chance table w/ 3s (modified 3). No problem keeping the car on the pavement!

Harrington plots 120 and also late brakes w/ a wear. At 100, he burns 2 tires on the T4 line. Hoyt runs his car on the outer rail of T4 at 120 for 2 wear and his big chip on the chance table (modified 6). Whew, that was close!

Fritz, at 100 and the bonus, runs into T4 on the tail of the NAPA Chevy for 2 tires.

Hudson grabs the T4 line at 160. Scarpino accepts an inside position, also at 160.

Snouffer has the strangest plot of the day. He goes 160 then late brakes w/ 2 wear to 120 (?!). He does receive the bonus space.

With his eyes on the next corner, Bauska plots a sedate 140. Weisen slams on the accelerator to hit 140 coming out of T3.

Plenty of bonus spaces were earned this turn. The race leader has company.

Turn 8 Results

Bernhardt runs Turn 8 on the line at 120 for free.

Benham hits the T6 & T8 lines in succession at 140 and a wear. He has contact with the race leader. Both Harley & Hoyt follow the same path, speed, and tire usage. With each getting the slip, they crowd in on the #44 racer.

Harrington clips a tire on the Turn 6 line at 160. Hudson gets the initiative and also runs the T6 line for a wear at 160. Fritz takes his 140 and bonus through the T6 120's for a wear. He maintains position on the #72.

The vanguard of 140 cars fight for position through the big banked Turn 10. A couple of 160's are stalking the lead pack.

Turn 9 Summary

Bernhardt clips a tire in the T10 100's at 120. He loses the lead but has a big wear advantage.

Benham, at 120, burns 2 tires in the T10 80's and takes the race lead with the bonus. Harley also drops 2 wear in the 80's at 120 and slides into 2nd place.

Hoyt runs the T10 100's at 100 then drops a wear as the bonus puts him into the 80's. Harrington, at 140, knocks off a wear on the T8 line before dumping 2 more in the T10 100's.

Hudson gets initiative and scrapes a wear on the T8 line and enters T10 in the 120' for one more. He claims the bonus space. Fritz takes the T8 line for free at 120.

Snouffer deposits some rubber on the track at 140: One wear in the T6 120 followed by another on the T8 line before grabbing the tailpipe on the maroon Toyota. At 140, Scarpino leaves a tire on the T6 line then runs the T8 line for free.

Bauska pulls up to the T6 line at 140. Weisen lays down a tire on the T4 line at 80.

The cars are strung out as they pass the 2nd time trap.

Turn 10 Summary

Bentham increases speed to 140 with already paid wear. He's through T13. Harley and Bernhardt also follow at 140 as they alternate through Turn 13 on the line.

Hoyt continues through the horseshoe at 100 on the inside rail. Harrington finishes T10 at 140 through the 100's and pulls alongside the #24 car. Hudson drops speed to 120 then clips another tire in the T10 80's. He has the bumper on the NAPA Chevy.

Fritz clears the horseshoe at 140 via the 100's for 2 wear. Snouffer & Scarpino both plot 100. Snouffer runs the corner for free while Scarpino drops a wear in the 80's to move up one position.

There was one illegal and several sub-optimal plots this turn. While I cannot offer plot suggestions, I can always answer direct questions about your plots.

Turn 11 Summary

Benham burns a wear in Turn 15 on the line at 120. Harley & Bernhardt follow the same path & wear expenditure, also at 120.

Hoyt, at 140, runs Turn 13 for free before knocking down 2 wear on the T15 line. Harrington re-routes to the outer rail in T13 at 140 then grabs the T15 line.

Hudson takes the T13 line for free at 140. With the bonus, he maneuvers through the traffic and into T15 on the outside for 2 wear.

Snouffer offers an illegal plot of 140 (you cannot increase speed within a corner that costs additional wear). He is re-plotted to 120 and must finish out the corner in the 120's before taking the T13 line. Scarpino plots 100 (could have plotted 120 into the 100's or 140 into the 120's since 1 wear already paid) and ends on the inside. Note that Scarpino should be ahead of Snouffer on the chart.

Bauska asks for the outer lane throughout Turn 10 at 140 for 2 wear (could have asked for 100's and gained an additional space). Weisen saves his wear at 120, taking the racing lines in T6 and T8.

Close to half the field will find itself in lap 2 next turn...

Turn 12 Summary

Benham clips a tire on the Turn 16 line at 120 to extend his lead.

Harley, at 100, runs the T16 line for free. Bernhardt finds a blocked line at 120 and opts to dump 2 wear in the 80's to take 2nd place.

Hoyt burns a wear on the T16 line at 120. Hudson finishes out T15 at 140 then rolls into T16 on the outer rail for a wear.

Harrington and Fritz take turns through T15 on the line at 100. They maintain relative position on the T16 line.

Scarpino drops a tire in the T13 120's at 140. He then takes the T15 line for 2 more. Snouffer runs the T13 line for free at 140 but gets pushed off-line in T15 for 2 wear.

Bauska continues out of the horseshoe at 140 before taking the T13 line for free. Weisen enters the 'shoe at 120 on the 100's for a wear.
