The leader takes the white flag, but with so little tread left will he be the leader at the end of the lap?

Turn 25 summary:
Swaine finishes lap 2 at 160 down the straight. Pellegrino conserves his tires taking the final corner line at 100. Polcen does the same and is able to clear the corner. Rando gets down to 100 using a one skill roll and takes the 100s around corner 15.

Kennington is able to take the 15 racing line at 100 for free and starts the next line. Schulz slows to 100 for the corner 15 line preserving his wear advantage over the two in front of him. Brown covers corner 13 on the line at 140 and starts the next line. Kellison comes out of corner 10 at 140 and follows Brown around the 13 line for free.

Brandt finishes the 100s at speed and sits on the corner 13 line. Rae is able to accelerate to 120 but Brandt's position forces him into the 140s. Haskell drops inside to finish the 100s for free and starts the line behind Brandt.

The top 8 are strung out but the back 3 still jostle for position.

Turn 26 summary:
Swaine makes a naked deceleration roll to get down to 100 and sheds his last wear on the corner 1 racing line. Pellegrino runs his top speed down the straightaway. Polcen comes across the s/f line at 160 to make up a length on Pellegrino. Kennington holds steady at 100 around the final corner for free.

Rando taps the brakes to 80 and takes the 80s for free finishing on the end of the racing line. Schulz maintains 100 around the racing line and is unaffected by Rando's slide to the outside. Brown covers the corner 15 line at 100 for free and starts the final line. Kellison follows in Brown's tire tracks and stays tucked in behind him.

Brandt is able to clear corner 15 at 100 on the line. Rae drops one wear in corner 15 looking for the line but is forced outside. Haskell does a cautious 100 onto the line behind Brandt.

A collective gasp from the crowd followed by stunned silence.

Turn 27 summary:
Swaine drives hard into corner 3 at 80. His bald tires try desperately to grip the asphalt but finally give way; the car careening into the sand and barrel rolling into the catch fence. Pellegrino stands hard on his brakes to get down to 80, taking the corner 1 line for free. Polcen sheds one wear on the line and tucks in behind the new leader. Kennington gets all his acceleration to 140 down the straightaway. Rando crosses the s/f line at 140 and stays to the inside.

Schulz comes off corner 16 at 140 and keeps on Rando's tail. Brown takes the line around the final corner at 100 for free. Kellison follows Brown's move but is unable to keep in the wake of the yellow machine.

Brandt scrubs off one wear to clear corner 16 on the line at 120. (As he loses a spot to Rae, he's the only driver that does not gain a spot with Swaine's exit) Rae slams into the corner 16 inside at 120 dropping two wear and two skill on a chance roll. Haskell runs the corner 15 line at 100 for free and starts the 16 line. He'll lose a little ground here with both the cars in front of him clear of the corner.

It's now a two car break for the lead but plenty of opportunity for position changes behind them.

Turn 28 summary:
Pellegrino drops two wear on the corner 3 racing line at 100. Polcen follows with the same move to keep on his wing. Kennington takes the corner 1 line at 100 for one wear. Rando uses two skill to nurse his damaged brakes down to 100 and also sheds one wear on the line.

Schulz is able to clear the first corner at 100 for one wear. Brown lets his big engine loose and finishes the main straight at 180 to a cheering crowd. Kellison gets all his acceleration to 160 to remain one length behind the yellow machine. Brandt follows on with his power plant producing a 180 move delighting the still standing crowd.

Rae maxes his top speed at 160 and tucks in behind Brandt. Haskell saves rubber by taking the corner 15 line at 100 for free.

As promised lap 3 is getting interesting with only Kennington not having another car within a car length.

Turn 29 summary:
Pellegrino hits his top speed of 140 and moves inside. Polcen's stronger engine brings him even with the leader. Kennington sheds two of his remaining wear on the corner 3 line at 100. Rando does a sightly more conservative 80 around the same line for one wear.

Schulz finishes the corner 1 line then dives hard inside of corner 3 at 80 shedding two wear. Brown at 100 drops one wear on the 1 line and another two on the 3 line but doesn't have quite enough to clear the corner. Kellison hits the brakes hard and they respond to bring him down to 100, scrubbing off one wear in corner 1. Brandt also tests his brakes and they, too, hold to slow his racecar to 100 and allow him around the corner 1 line for one wear.

Rae's big brakes need no help to slow him to 80 on the corner 1 line for free. Haskell winds up to 160 and catches Rae on the entrance to the corner.

Quite a bit of action this turn and a new leader. This will scramble the field some.

Turn 30 summary:
Pellegrino rolls for top speed with one skill and fails. Polcen's 160 top speed gives him the lead. Kennington is NPR(2) so moves 140. But he only has one wear left to pay so he spins at the end of his move. Rando reaches for the dice with one skill and is able to accelerate to 160 off the corner.

Schulz also tries to push his acceleration to keep with Rando but his engine balks and leaves him with a crippled car. Brown finishes the corner 3 racing line at 100 for already paid wear. Kellison also runs the line at 100 shedding two wear. Brandt lost his opportunity for the line last turn so he dives inside at 80 scrubbing off two wear.

Rae is able to clear corner 3 on the line at 100 trading two wear for the privilege. Haskell reserves some wear for later in the lap as he takes the corner 1 line at 80 for free.

Only one driver with more than 4 wear with more than 1/2 lap to go.

Turn 31 summary:
Polcen takes the corner 4 racing line at 100 shedding two wear. Pellegrino follows in his tire tracks also at 100. Kennington hugs the inside as he recovers from his spin. Rando tests his brakes to get down to 120 and they hold.

Schulz accelerates to 140 and grabs Rando's wing. Brown lets loose with a 180 to pull even with Schulz. Kellison (the current wear king) hits his top speed of 160 and tucks in behind the dark blue machine. Brandt gets his full acceleration off the corner but loses a length on the pack he's following.

Rae hits the gas hard asking his engine for a little extra. It responds nicely as he's able to hit 180 and make up a length on the group in front of him. Haskell drops two wear on the corner 3 line at 100.

The pack approaches corner 4 for the final time with quite a variety of speeds and apparent strategies.

Turn 32 summary:
Polcen runs the straight at 160 and sets up for the corner 6 line. Pellegrino settles in at 120 with a good gap behind him. Rando slows to 100 and starts the corner 4 racing line. Brown pulls back to 120 on the inside but his big brakes should keep him safe around the corner.

Schulz brakes to 100 and chooses the middle lane for his approach. Kennington asks his engine for a little extra acceleration and it responds, getting him to 100 and onto the start of the line. Kellison drops to 140 and tucks in behind Brown. Rae also is counting on his big brakes as he runs up behind the silver machine at 160.

Brandt's brakes aren't the biggest so he feathers the gas to 160 and leaves his options open in the middle lane. Haskell tromps the accelerator and wows the fans at 180.

The two leaders get gone while the rest of the pack has mixed results around corner 4.

Turn 33 summary:
Polcen turns both racing lines at 120 for free. Pellegrino follows the black car as closely as he can. Brown is able to slow to 40 around the inside of corner 4 for free. Rando takes the racing line at 80 shedding half of his remaining wear.

Schulz plots 100 but with Rando on the end of the line he's forced around the 60s for two wear. Kellison dips into his stash of wear throwing two of them on the inner 40 at 80 and quitely assumes P3. Rae gets the initiative at 80 then fails a naked late brake roll costing him his last wear. With now bald tires he swings outside into the 60s for free. Kennington slows to 60 since he's already worn out his Firestones, taking the line for free.

Brandt locks up the brakes scraping two wear off his tires to get down to 60 and start the line. Haskell moves up one position as he approaches the inside of the corner at 140.

Although the top three have big gaps between them, still plenty of points to be decided.

Turn 34 summary:
Polcen runs his tires bald in the corner 10 80s at 120. Pellegrino sheds his final wear in the 100 at 120. Kellison asks his engine to get him in front of the mid-pack and it responds but not without a little rumble. He slides into corner 6 for one wear on the line. Rando prepares for the corner on the inside at 140.

Brown and Schulz match 120 moves down the straightaway, both taking advantage of slips. Kennington finishes the 60s at speed and sits on the end of the line. Rae finishes the 60s right behind him and starts for the inside.

Haskell scrubs off two wear in the inside 40 at 80 and moves up to P7. Brandt runs the racing line at speed for free and tucks in behind the dark blue machine.

The dice gods smile this turn. Two positions change hands.

Turn 35 summary:
Polcen is hearing every little sound his machine is making as he continues unchallenged towards the checkers. Pellegrino is clear of corner 10 but he will be racing in his rear view mirror soon. Kellison sheds one wear on the corner 8 racing line to get a gap on the mid-pack. Rando takes the corner 6 inside and 8 racing line both for free at 120.

Schulz covers the corner 6 line at 140 then drops one wear on the corner 8 line to pull even with the bright green racecar. Brown saves his thin tires by doing 120 through the two corners for free. Haskell is able to run into corner 6 on the line for free at 140. Kennington pushes his engine for a little extra acceleration and is able to make it to 120.

Rae also asks his engine for that little extra oomph and it, too, obeys allowing him to pass Kennington and take over P8. Brandt's big engine allows him to safely get to 140 and brings him even with Kennington.

Next deadline: turn 36 due Friday, Jul 19 at 4pm EDT/8pm UTC

Does anyone need to break for WBC? If so let me know asap.

Also, for near future planning, I will be on something resembling a vacation from Aug 14-Aug 19 or 20. There will be no moves processed. Unless we also break for WBC, turns will continue until the Aug 12 deadline. The next hard deadline after that will be Aug 21; Aug 19 will be a soft deadline. IF I get back on the 19th and have all moves in, depending on what time I actually get back, I MAY process a turn that day.

Corner 10 bunches up the mid-pack and probably will do the same with the trailing group next turn.

Turn 36 summary:
Polcen cruises around the penultimate corner on the line at 100 for free. Pellegrino's damaged engine gets him through corner 13 on the line at 120. Kellison covers corner 10 in one move at 120 on the inside shedding two wear. Schulz starts at 120 to get the initiative then late brakes to 100 and uses the 100s for free.

Rando wanted the same route but now must keep to the outside. Brown runs inside on the 100s at speed picking up P5. Haskell takes the corner 8 line at 120 for free and keeps inside. Rae follows him through the corner 6 and 8 lines.

Kennington plots 140 then makes a naked brake roll to 120 following Rae and tucks in behind him. Brandt at 120 takes the 120s through both corners as he is unable to finish the corner 8 line at speed.

Next deadline: trigger mode. (hard deadline Jul 31 at 4pm EDT/8pm UTC)

Polcen can see the flag in the flagman's hand. Kellison's wear will allow a late race charge.

Turn 37 summary:
Polcen rounds corner 16 on the line for free and stares at the finish line. Pellegrino takes the corner 15 line at 100 for free. Kellison comes out of the carousel at 140 and prepares for the final two corners with four remaining wear. Schulz finishes the 100s at speed and drops inside.

Brown also runs out the 100s at speed to clear the corner. Rando was looking for that same route but, instead, sheds his final wear in the 80s and fades outside to remain even with Brown. Haskell joins the two in front of him with a 140 move through the 100s for his final two wear. Rae drives the 100s at speed for free.

Kennington is already on bare rubber as he hits the 100s at speed. Brandt wants the inside at 120 but with the blue car in the way he's forced into the outside lane.

Polcen takes the checkers but P4 and back are still up for grabs.

Turn 38 summary:
Polcen showboats for the crowd as he gives it all he has and then some to fly across the line at 180mph! Pellegrino comes through corner 16 on the line at speed and will wrap up P2. Kellison squeals around both final corners at 140 scrubbing his tires clean and bald but it won't be quite enough to catch the purple machine. Schulz does 140 across the corner 13 racing line and chooses the inside lane, doing a little rear-view-mirror driving.

Brown also takes the corner 13 line at 140 and tucks in behind Schulz. Rando follows on the line and gets a slip from Schulz to pull even with him on the corner 15 line. Haskell finishes corner 10 at 140 through the 100s for already paid wear and across the corner 13 line to grab the wing of the yellow race car. Rae slows to 80 to finish the corner on the inside through the 100s.

Kennington holds steady at 100 but with Rae at the exit he has to push out into the 120s. Brandt planned to drop to the inside to finish the corner but, he too, has to make a last minute correction to the outside.

Next deadline: trigger mode in effect, hard deadline Wednesday, Jul 31 at 4pm EDT/8pm UTC

A little housekeeping:
I have set up a post-race comments topic in the Redscape/Buddh C2 forum. Feel free to post there.
Sometime over the next few turns please let me know if you plan to run race 2 (Sochi).
And on the subject of Sochi, you may send set-ups anytime. The Sochi forum is open and the track is posted there.
