Some brakes heat up around the Konya/Antalya complex.

Turn 26 Summary

Beckman and Ling finish out Antalya at 120 each. They'v stretched the lead on the peleton.

Tatum, at 100, clips a tire in the Antalya 80's. Swaine runs the Antalya line for free at 80 to stay astride the black Ford.

Rae gets the initiative from the 3-wide into Konya. At 120, he burns 2 wear in Konya, late brakes with the dice (bal -3; brk +2: 8 = pass) to 100, and drops another wear on the Antalya line. Welage moves next at 100 and rolls the dice to get there (bal +1; brk +2: 13 = pass). He clips 2 tires in Konya then another on the Antalya line.

Kennard is odd man out at 80. He rolls through Konya on the line for free before getting hung in the Antalya 80's.

Rando plots 120 then late brakes to 100 with his optimal choice null & void (bal +3; brk +1: 10 = pass). He tosses a wear in the Konya 80's before setting up Antalya on the line. Long, at 80, runs the Konya line for free then ducks into the Antalya 60's for a wear.

Incorpora sets up Konya on the line at 120. Brandt, at 140, goes inside, leaving the outside for Marvin, also at 140. One more 3-wide into Konya!

Turn 27 Deadline: Thursday, Jan. 3rd @ 4 p.m. EST (9 p.m. GMT)
More squishy deadlines through the weekend. I'll be in Atlanta for a conference but I'll do my best to push out a few turns.

I think Jim just gave your rules a real test, Doug! Would you mind looking it over to be sure I did it right?

Turn 27 Summary

Beckman and Ling hustle across the S/F line, trading paint at 140 each to stay in formation.

Tatum rolls down the stretch at 160. Swaine pushes his engine to get to 140 (bal +3: 10 = pass) as he tucks in behind the #2 car.

Rae and Welage bolt out of Antalya at 160 apiece.

Long ups his speed to 100 as he goes into the 80's, wear already paid. Kennard continues at 80 to pull in behind the green machine. Rando drops 2 wear on the Antalya line at 120 and pulls up on the numbers of the Subway Toyota.

Jim gets the initiative out of the 3-wide at 120. He burns 2 wear in the Konya 80's before entering Antalya on the line. He opts for 1 wear and reaches for the dice cup (bal -1: 5 = crash). His car goes into and through the tire wall before bursting into flames! We hope he is ok...

This is bad news for the back markers who must now roll for crash avoidance. Brandt knocks down 2 wear in the Konya 60's before taking the Antalya line for another. His crash avoidance test resulted in a minor fail (bal -3; avoid mods +2: 7 = minor fail). The minor entails a loss of one wear and one balance.

Incorpora burns a wear in the Konya 80's at 100 and also runs the Antalya line for an additional wear. His crash avoidance test was a near miss (bal -3; avoid mods +2: 8 = pass).

Brake cooling: Swaine, Rae, & Welage

Overall, a very interesting turn. Sorry to see you go, Jim!

We have a new race leader...

Turn 28 Summary

Ling gets initiative at 100. He rolls around the outer rail in Istanbul for free and takes the race lead. Beckman, at 80, uses the middle lane for free. More side-by-side racing to come.

Tatum over-brakes to 80 (1 wear) before taking the 80's for free. Swaine plots 100 then late brakes to 80 with the dice (bal +3; brk +1: 11 = pass). He then clips his last wear in the Istanbul 60, becoming the first car to go to bald tires.

Welage gets the initiative at 120. He late brakes to 100 w/ dice (bal +1; brk +1: 12 = pass) before taking the Istanbul 100's for free. Rae, at 100, burns a wear in the Istanbul 80's.

Long and Rando trade paint in a high speed race (160 each) across the S/F line.

Kennard drops back a space at 120 and the bonus.

Brandt tucks in behind the #6 at 160. Incorpora pulls up on the side panel of the yellow Ford at 160 and the slip.

Mater makes an appearance to haul Marvin's broken Toyota off the track. Word from the trackside medical team is positive for Jim - nothing broken, just a slight concussion.

Rando & Kennard cool their brakes at the S/F line.

We're seeing some congestion in the narrow part of the track...

Turn 29 Summary

Ling pulls up to Ankara on the line at 120. Beckman stays beside the race leader, also at 120.

Tatum, at 140, picks up the Ankara line. Swaine tucks in behind the #2 at 120.

Rae and Welage finish out Istanbul at 100 each with the latter lined up behind the former.

Rando gets the initiative at 140. He rolls through Istanbul on the outer rail for 2 wear and pulls up on the side panel of the black and red #7 car. Long, at 120, finds himself in a jam. He burns 2 wear in the Ankara 80's but with no room on the track must late brake to 100.

Kennard rounds Ankara on the outside at 100 for free.

Incorpora has initiative at 120 but with his optimal path blocked, he clips 2 tires in the Istanbul 80's. Brandt, at 100, drops a wear in the 80's.

Lots of rubber left on the track, several dice rolls, and one spinout...

Turn 30 Summary

Ling runs the Ankara line at 80 for a wear. Beckman clips a tire in the Ankara 60's.

Tatum smiles at an open line. He runs it at 80 for a wear. Swaine follows, also at 80, but with bald tires must go to the chance table (bal +3: 11 = pass). No problem...

Rando gets the initiative at 120 and burns 2 wear in the Ankara 60's plus a chance roll (bal +3: 12 = pass). The high balance cars are handling the corners well. Rae, at 100, rolls into Ankara on the line. He tosses off his last tire and makes a very dangerous chance roll (bal -3: 7 = minor fail). In this case, the resulting spin is a lucky outcome.

Welage plots 120 before late braking to 100 (bal +1; brk -1: 10 = pass). He has the Ankara line. Long is off-line in front of Ankara at 100.

Incorpora has no place to put his car at 140. He is forced to late brake with a wear.

Kennard gets the initiative at 140. He manages to find a hole, albeit off line. Brandt plays it safe at 120.

Five cars packed up front. A couple of back markers get stuffed in Ankara.

Turn 31 Summary

Ling pulls up to Izmir on the line at 120. Beckman, at 140, pulls to the inside and takes the lead for now.

At 120, Tatum nabs the tail of the #24. Swaine slot in behind the #88 at 120 and the bonus.

Rando accelerates out of Ankara at 140 through the 80 spot. He catches the lead pack. Rae recovers from his spin at 60.

Welage runs the Ankara line at 60 for free. Long takes Ankara through the 60's for free.

Kennard clips a tire at 80 through the 60's. At 80 and no place to go, Incorpora must late brake to 60 with a wear before taking the 60's for free.

Brandt plots 100 but has no sane way to clear the corner. He must brake to 60. One wear brings it to 80 then a dice roll is attempted for the next 20 mph (bal -4; brk +2: modified 4). Alas, the failed roll damages the brakes and costs a wear. Line for free.

Trigger option... which is a good thing since I can't adjudicate at the deadline.

Turn 32 Summary

Ling gets the initiative at 120 and knocks off half his remaining wear on the Izmir line. He's into Bursa for free. Beckman burns half his remaining wear as well. He goes 100 on the outer rail of Izmir before grabbling the Bursa line.

Tatum, at 80, takes the Izmir line for free. Swaine runs the Izmir 80's for free at 80 and gets the bonus. He has the inside edge on the black machine. Note: I forgot to cool Swaine's brakes last turn - it's been adjusted.

Rando plots 100 but with his preferred route blocked he late brakes to 80 after they cool at the time trap (bal +2; brk +1: 14 = pass). He takes Izmir for free on the line.

Rae rolls up to Izmir on the line at 120 & cools his brakes at the time trap.. Welage pushes his engine to 140 (bal +1; eng +3: 13 = pass). He slots to the inside & cools his brakes at the time trap.

Kennard gets the initiative by pushing to 140 (bal +2; eng 0: 12 = pass). I missed the brake cooling for Will but I've got to push this out so I'll fix it next time. He should be at '0'. Long exits the corner at 120 and slides into Kennard's exhaust.

Brandt ups his speed to 80 as the speed limit increases in the corner. Incorpora stays at 60.

Not much change to report this turn.

Turn 33 Summary

Ling continues through Bursa at 120 and cruises through the Adana 120. Beckman burns off his last tire at 140 on the Bursa line before taking the Adana line for free.

Tatum has the initiative at140. He tosses a wear on the Bursa line and grabs the next line. Swaine, at 120 and the bonus, runs the Bursa line for free.

Rando also benefits from the slip to keep up with the pack at 120, Bursa line for free.

Welage over brakes to 80 (bal +1: brk -2: 9 = pass) and runs Izmir on the outer rail, finishing on the line. Rae, with the line blocked, takes his 80 to the outside for free. He has the inside position.

Kennard can't finish the line at 80 so he uses the outer rail as well. Long, also at 80, is the only car in this little bunch that found the line vacant.

Brandt races into Izmir on the line for 2 wear and cools his brakes at the trap. Incorpora pulls up to Izmir at 120.

Notes:
Rae and Welage should be flipped in the chart.
Kennard's chart is now correct from the previous turn's brake cooling.

Swaine, rolls to the outside of Adana at 140 for free. He grabs the Gaz' line. Tatum runs the Adana line for free at 140 before pulling up to Gaziantep on the inside.

Rando gets the Adana line for free at 140. He weaves his way through traffic with the bonus. Note that he is NOT on the line.

Welage tosses his last wear at 140 on the Bursa line. Rae tucks in behind him at 120, Bursa line.

Kennard runs the Bursa line at 120. Long rolls to the outside of Bursa at 120 and gains the bonus.

Brandt finishes out the Izmir line before taking the 120's in Bursa at 120 and the slip. Incorpora rounds Izmir on the line at 80.

A rare no-wear turn...

Turn 35 Summary

Ling jumps out onto the back stretch at 160. Beckman increases speed to 140 through the corner and sits two spaces back.

Tatum runs the outer rail of Gaziantep at 120 and opts for the potential slip over position (middle lane). Rando also takes the 120's for free and slots to the inside of the black racer.

Swaine takes the Gaziantep line at 120 for free and with the slip obliges Tatum on the possible slip next turn.

Welage pulls up to Gaziantep at 140 on the line. Rae takes inside position on the #27 at 140 and the bonus.

Kennard runs Adana on the line at 140. Long follows and with the bonus pulls ahead of the white machine.

Brandt finishes out Bursa at 120. Incorpora runs the Bursa line at 120 for free.

The last corner complex is coming up for the leaders. With little rubber on the tires, who's going to come in hot and who's not?!

Turn 36 Summary

Ling continues down the back stretch at 160. At 160, Beckman successfully pushes his top speed (bal -3; eng +4: modified 10).

Swaine maxes his acceleration to 160. Needham, also at 160, tucks in behind the Marines Ford. Tatum pulls alongside the #25 at 160 and the bonus.

Rae rolls around Gaziantep on the outer rail at 120. Welage runs the line at 120 and slides in front of the black and red machine.

Long, at 120 and the slip, takes the Gaziantep line for free to pull even with the #27. Kennard runs the line for free at 120.

Brandt burns a wear at 140 on the Gaziantep line before tucking in behind the Valvoline Ford. Incorpora takes the Adana line at 140 for free and sets up the next corner.

Swaine & Needham hit the time trap for some brake cooling.

Turn 37 Summary

Ling addresses Konya on the line at 120. Beckman pulls into his exhaust at 140.

Tatum pushes top speed (bal -3; eng +4: 10 = pass) and at 180 pulls inside of the blue racer. Swaine, at 160, tucks in behind the black machine.

Rando, at 160 and the bonus settles in behind the #24.

Welage goes to the dice cup at 180 (bal +1; eng +2: 12 = pass). Long pulls up on his bumper at 160.

Rae pulls off the big double bonus thanks to Welage. He pulls even with his benefactor at 160.

Kennard and Brandt both plot 160. With the slip, Brandt pulls even with the Valvoline Ford.

Incorpora runs Gaziantep for free at 120.

Turn 38 Deadline: Wednesday, January 30th @ 8 a.m. EST (1 p.m. GMT) with a trigger when all plots are in.

Edit: I forgot to cool the brakes for Welage & Brandt. I'll adjust next turn.

An adventurous turn for the lead pack while setting up what will probably be the same for the secondary chase pack.

Turn 38 Summary

Ling takes the Konya line for free at 80 before knocking down his last wear in the Antalya 60's. The checkered flag is in his eyesight!

Now it gets interesting. Tatum over-brakes to 100 with a dice roll (bal -3; brk +2: 1 = fail). His only roll of the game turns up snake eyes. With only one wear after the brake damage, he can't go 100 into the complex without a chance roll so the last wear will come off for a safe deceleration to 80 and a free ride around the Konya 80's. He has the Antalya line.

Beckman, at 80, runs the Konya line for free then dives into the Antalya 80's.

Swaine maintains initiative at 120 then grabs the dice cup to late brake in front of the corner (bal +2; brk +1: 5 = fail). With no wear to pay for the brake damage, the #25 whips around into a spin on the track!

Rando also plots 120 before late braking (bal +2; brk 0: 11 = pass) to 100. He skirts the spun vehicle and burns a wear in the Konya 80's. He pulls up next to the black machine with two wear in his pocket.

Welage and Rae both plot 140 as they approach the final complex. Long, at 160, makes it a three-wide going into Konya with the advantage of rubber on the tires.

Kennard pushes his top speed again at 180 (bal +2; eng -1: 12 = pass). He slides in behind the #27. Brandt also pushes (bal -4; eng +4; 7 = minor fail). He mis-shifts, re-plots to 160, and settles in on the bumper of the #6.

Incorpora passes the time trap at 160.

Thanks for getting all those plots in early. I was just about to delete that tornado but then I thought, you know what... I might need that again.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! Congratulations, Dave, on a very well run race.

Turn 39 Summary

Dave coasts across the finish line at 140 to take the checkered flag. Beckman completes Antalya at 80 and blocks the line.

Rando has his way with corner at 120 for 2 wear. He is poised for 2nd place. Tatum, with the line blocked, takes the Antalya 80's for free at 80. He sits on the bumper of the blue machine.

Swaine is limited to 40. He runs inside and readies his car for the Antalya line.

Now it gets weird...

Long gets the initiative at 120. He late brakes with a wear before the corner to 100 and runs Konya on the outer rail for his last wear.

Welage posts 100 but with no place for his car (or a chance roll), he late brakes to 80 with the dice (bal +1; brk -3: 8 = pass). He takes the Konya 80's.

Rae rolls into Konya on the line at 80 for free but a wall of tail lights in front of him force a brake down on the dice (bal -5; brk +2; 0 = fail). With no wear to pay for the failed test, the car finds itself in a tailspin.

Kennard plots 120 then grabs the dice cup for a late brake to 100 (bal +2; brk +2: 11 = pass). That's still too fast so he burns a wear to drop to 80, taking the Konya 80's.

Brandt also plots 120 with the goal of getting into the corner to spend his prodigious amount of wear. With no room at the inn, he scrapes off 2 tires as he brakes down to 80.

Incorpora continues to make his way towards the final corner complex at 160.
