Anybody play this old AH title?

Simultaneous movement in the age of sail. There's a great place to play online where everything's automated: http://www.youplay.it. They offer tons of scenarios, from frigate skirmishes up to massive battles with a dozen ships-of-the-line (SOL) on each side.

Good fun. Here's the 31st move of a game I'm in. We both started with four SOL's and each of us has had one strike her colors. I'm the Brits and my Exeter just laid down a rake on the Solitaire (she's also been somewhat immobilized after I knocked off some of her sails).

If anyone wants to play, let me know. You can set up private games and they have chat if you need help or want to talk smack.

Loved it as a young man. Great movement system!

Just can't wait until my boys are old enough to move up from Stratego. We play Richtofen's War also.

They have something similar to Richtofen's War (which strangely I own but have never played) at youplay.it. It's called Blue Max. I've tried it on several occasions but I kind of suck at it.

Willing to play that too if you want to have a go at it.

I played WS&IM with my daughter last year (she's 9 now) but it didn't take. Time to try again! She will play Battle Cry, the new one, and Memoir '44 with me. I'm working her up to the The Russian Campaign, Squad Leader, and Fortress Europa  .

WS & IM - Got it!
Battle Cry - Got it!
Memoir '44 - Got it!
Russian Campaign - Got it!
Fortress Europa - Played it!
Squad Leader - Got it!

Play with 10 and 11 year olds - Got it!

I will look at the youplay.it and see if that is what I want to do. Interested in it, though...

Do the players need to be online together to play? Can it be turn based?

It's turn based and orders are only revealed after both players have submitted for any one turn. Typically you'll submit 2 orders in a row, one to complete a set and then another for the upcoming turn after you see the results.

A game can take several days up to several weeks depending upon how frequently players check in. Occasionally you'll catch someone online and can wipe out quite a few turns in a short period.

Two simple one-on-one games set up to get you familiar with the system. One is with frigates, the other with SOL's.

I've never set up a challenge game so I hope I did it right.

I created 2 challenge games, Duke - same ones as with Brad above. Simple ones to get your feet wet again.

Anyone else? Brad, Russell, and I are duking it out on the high seas. Plenty of ocean to go around.

So far, it's all head-to-head matches but we can create large multi-player scenarios as well. Come play. Huzzah!

Brad & Russell, I've set up a 3-player game where we each have two ships.

I've taken the Spaniards (top of board). No collusion, you rotten SOB's!

Teams are possible as well, but we'd need a fourth to make it 2 on 2.

This game is incredibly fun!
