Today is the centennial of the end of the Battle of Saint-Mihiel. The allied offensive led by General Pershing was supported by the Americans' large but inexperienced tank corp, which was both trained and led by a young Lieutenant Colonel named George S. Patton. Personally leading the tank corp into battle, Patton was seriously wounded but continued to command from a shell hole. Patton was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his service that day, and, as you may know, his interest in tanks persisted.

Our board is filled. I will be setting out an email to the players shortly.

But since some of you are too old for Twitter:

French high school students place flags at the graves of 4,153 #WWI American #soldiers buried in the St. Mihiel American Military Cemetery in Thiaucourt, #France, in preparation for today's #WWI100 Centennial Commemoration of the Battle for Saint-Mihiel Salient. #1GM

Nice to know that there are some other folks paying attention to what happened 100 years ago!
