Ling finds some daylight in the Hairpin and makes a big move.

Turn 29 Summary

Harley & Long complete the Hairpin at 120, racing side by side towards Mercedes.

Beckman recovers from his spin at 60, using the 60's in the Hairpin. Tatum, at 80, runs to the outer rail and the secondary line for free.

Ling has initiative out of the 3-wide at 120 then late brakes to 100 on the dice (naked 4). He weaves his way along the racing line for 2 wear. Harrington is next at 100 but without a preferred route open, takes the outer rail for a wear, ending on the secondary line. Swaine, at 60, takes the Hairpin 60's.

Marvin drops to 100 (1 wear for the braking) and enters the Hairpin on the line for 2 wear. Rando has no options at 120 other than the outer rail for 2 wear.

Brandt rolls through Parabolika at 160. Snouffer tests his engine at 160 (naked 7).

The race leader mis-steps and the Hairpin takes out another car.

Turn 30 Summary

Harley plots 120 then brakes down to 100 (naked 9). He rolls into the Mercedes 80's on the chance table (naked 6), keeping the line open for Long. Long plots 100 before braking down to 80 (naked 9). He takes the Mercedes line for free.

Ling pulls up to Mercedes on the line at 140. Beckman, at 120, opts for the inside position.

Tatum, at 120 and the bonus, stays on the tailpipe of the #2 car. Harrington completes the Hairpin at 100.

Marvin finishes out the Hairpin line at 100, pulling alongside the #20. Swaine revs up to 80 on the secondary line. Rando continues at 120 through the Hairpin then slots in between two racers.

Brandt dives into the Hairpin on the line at 120 with 2w (forgot to deduct) and 2s on the chance table (modified 10). OUCH! He slams his car through the tire barrier and jumps out of the cockpit relatively unscathed. Snouffer pulls up to the Hairpin on the line at 180.

Mater makes an appearance to drag Welage's Chevy back to the garage. Be quick about it, Mater, we need you again!

Most likely a late adjudication.

Only 2 corners remain for the race leaders...

Turn 31 Summary

Long plots 140 then late brakes to 120 (naked 8). He takes the Mobil line. Harley, at 120, gets pushed to the outside of Mobil.

Ling runs the Mercedes line at 100 for a wear. Beckman takes the Mercedes line at 80, free of charge. Tatum stays aside the #22, also through the line at 80.

Harrington clips 2 tires on the Mercedes line at 120 and sits on the bumper of the #22. Marvin had the same idea at 120 but, with a blocked line, settles for the outer rail at a cost of 2 wear.

Rando, at 100 and with the bonus, finds a clean line in Mercedes for a wear. Swaine pulls up to Mercedes on the line at 120.

Snouffer is feeling lucky today and dives into the Hairpin on the outside for a wear and a chance roll using his last sp (modified 2). He manages to keep his racer on the track.

Though Mater was hoping for more work, he's more than pleased with getting to tow a 2nd car back to the paddock (happier than a tornado in a trailer park, as he would say). Chris is under observation at the local ER and all signs point to a quick recovery from his injuries.

Tatum has initiative at 100 and runs the Sachs line for a wear. Beckman, at 80, takes the Sachs line for free.

Marvin enters Sachs on the line at 100 for his last wear. Swaine pulls up to Sachs on the line at 120. Snouffer brings up the rear at 80, running Mercedes on the line for free.

The checkered flag drops as seven racers scream across the finish line!

I will auto-pilot the last three cars since no amount of savvy plotting can affect positions.

A big thanks to all of you for supporting Redscape in this inaugural benefit race. Given the terrific response, we just might have to do this again next year. I enjoyed marshaling the race - you're a nice bunch to work with.

Congratulations to Dave on a fine race. No more flying under the radar for you!

I'll create a forum for race comments if you have them. You can email them to me if you don't wish to post directly at Redscape. If so, please advise 'for publication'.

Turn 35 Summary

Ling gets the checkered flag at 160. Tatum, at 180, pulls alongside the #2 for 2nd place.

Long drops the hammer to 180 but his engine begs for mercy (naked 11). Turns out to not matter. Harrington hits the gas pedal and goes to the dice cup at 180 (naked 9). His engine is agreeable as he pulls in behind the winner for 4th(?). Long now gets to move at 160 and with the big double bonus from the #7 car, he grabs 3rd place.

Rando exceeds his busted engine's top speed at 160 but with the big chip in his back pocket, no dice roll needed. The bright orange Chevy takes 5th.

Harley rolls the dice on the Accel table (naked 8) and at 160 plus the slip, rolls into 6th place. Beckman also pushes to 160 (naked 7), crossing the finish line with a bonus for 7th.

Marvin finishes out Sudkurve at speed. Swaine runs the Sudkurve 100's for free. Snouffer takes the Sachs line at 80 for free.

Turn 36

Marvin runs over the finish line at 140 and 8th place. Swaine grabs 9th place at 160. Snouffer burns his last wear in Sudkurve at 120.

Turn 37

Snouffer drops the hammer at 180, finishing out the field in 10th place.
