I will be proposing permanent divisions for the upcoming season. I have found no redeeming qualities in having divisions shuffle around for the past two seasons. I think permanent divisions will bring back some rivalries which, I believe, were developing in our first 3-years of static division play.

Geography-based divisions is my preference:

Maryland/Virginia (or DMV)
MoCo Foes (MD)
Wacker Drive Bleacher Bums (VA)
Maryland Wolfdogs (MD)
Turtle Soup (VA)

Metro-North (that's the train line up to Hartford, correct?)
Eastside Bombers (NY)
The King's Men (NY)
Hartford Hornets (CN)
M. Hivry (NJ)

New England
Tater Tots (ME)
Ugly Ducklings (MA)
Auburn E-Claries (MA)
Greensboro Gunners (MA)

West Coast
Lincoln Lumberjacks (CA)
SB Sluggers (CA)
Walla Walla Wallaby (WA)
M. Cruz (FL)

Without any changes, these are the 2018 divisions:

Foes
Bombers
Sluggers
King's Men

Tots
Soup
E-Claires
Wallaby

Bums
Ducklings
Hornets
Wolfdogs

Jacks
Gunners
Mike's Team
Marcos' Team

Sounds like the Soup are afraid of having the Wallaby in their division!

Well, seeing as how I got stuck with two super-teams in my division this year...anything would an improvement!

After last week's nail-biter, you got that right.

It only goes as far as New Haven. You've got to take Amtrak to get to Hartford.

Thanks, George.

I think I'll still let the champs pick division names regardless of how we go with it, so the geographic names only have relevance as far as grouping owners.

The only record I can find is that the divisions in 2018 are supposed to be:

(1) 1,5,11,15
(2) 2,6,9,16
(3) 3,7,12,13
(4) 4,8,10,14

(This is from a post by Freeman on Oct 7 2016 - that I THINK was subsequently voted on and announced as passing in the 2017 AMENDMENT VOTING DISCUSSION thread).

And my understanding was this was based on regular season record, not playoffs. In which case, the divisions, if they don't change, are a bit different than what's laid out in the OP.

(1) TOTS, BOMB, SLUG, KING
(2) FOES, GG, MASH, WWW
(3) JACKS, DUCKS, WOLF, HTFD
(4) WSB, SOUP, AECL, OVB

You can't rely on the ESPN regular season standings. Because we have to shoe-horn our playoff system into ESPN's, the first 2 playoff rounds get included in ESPN's standings (we manually set up the 1st two rounds).

I record the standings after week 21, the end of our regular season. They can be found in the league history page: http://www.redscape.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=39&start=15

Here is a map of the permanent divisions with Matt's new division names.

I allocated the names randomly as Matt didn't really care.
