Opening day Is tomorrow in New York. The Tigers are here visiting the Yankees and I'm actually going to the game on Sunday. For a fan of both teams it is the ideal opening day!

This is the first opening day since Ernie Harwell died. Ernie was the broadcaster I listened to when I was young and he started every season off with the same quote, which I will again repeat here:
"For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land"

More daylight, flowers blooming, the voice of the turtle, and the sights and sounds of baseball. Can't get much better than that. Have a great season everyone!

Ha! Makes the quote especially appropriate for our group, 'cept isn't Mike a terrapin? What's the difference between a terrapin and a turtle anyway?

From the voice of the turtle:

A terrapin is a snapping turtle with a bad attitude. Especially after Maryland was denied post-season play.

I think the longgui is named for a turtle too.
