Builds are in!

Only two pairs with the same set-up (Brown & Orlandi, LaMorte & Coyle). Big engines and extra tires took in many of the build points. Bidding should be interesting with half the field opting for 100 start speed. Guess we know who's looking to run from the back! Brakes could be a problem for some of the cars with a surprisingly large number going thin on the pads.

Here's some build stats for you:

Don, do you have a "We Brake for Nobody" bumper sticker on your car?

The first two rows were very expensive!

Grid
R1 L1. Mossman #14
R1 L2: Tatum #50
R2 L1: Incorpora #8
R2 L2: LaMorte #2
R3 L1: Coyle #99
R3 L2: Orlandi #18
R4 L1: Ales #88
R4 L2: Hancock #3
R5 L1: Ling #17
R5 L2: Torrezno #25
R6 L1: Brown #38
R6 L2: Brandt #5

Notes:

Coyle jumped into the #99 Coca Cola car.

I will keep the point totals updated throughout the race. Your goal is the season championship but only a handful of cars have a realistic chance. The secondary goal is to be in the top 4 which gains you entrance into C2 next season. No one gets relegated so feel free to drive with abandon!

Looks like we've got some forum spectators. Is that Lord Dark Helmet?!

The Grand Marshal drops the green flag and we're off! Buckle up, this should prove to be a fast race...

Turn 1 Summary
Mossman pushes the start w/ 2sp (modified 4) and enters S1 at 120 for a wear. Tatum pulls up to S1 in the middle lane at 100.

LaMorte gets the initiative out of row 2 at 100. Incorpora pushes his start to 80 with his big chip (modified 4) and tucks in behind the #2.

Coyle pushes to 120 w/ 2sp (modified 4) and grabs the tailpipe on the #50. Orlandi's not feeling the dice yet and drives at a reasonable 60.

Hancock gets the initiative by pushing to 80 w/ 2sp (modified 4) and pulls alongside the #18. Ales, at 60, pulls in behind the neon green Chevy.

Ling, at 100, moves to the outer rail to make it three wide past the starter. Torrezno submitted his pole bid again, presumably not happy with his position. I'll call this a mis-plot and move the car at his start speed of 100. Unfortunately, there is no room at the inn and he must brake to 80. His personal defaults have him roll the dice with 1sp (modified 8).

Brown pushes to 80 w/ 2s (modified 5), and opts for the bumper on the #25. Brandt is in no rush to get in the fray and eases the #5 Kellogg's car to 20.

One other note on points for those near the top. This year's RROC invitations will be given to the three circuit champions. For the remainder of the 6 car field a wild card system will be used. Invitations will be issued to drivers in order of points regardless of circuit until the field is filled. I will try to keep things updated probably when I post lap 3 numbers for each circuit.

(Need to get another cup of coffee. I always drink coffee when I look at the radar!)

No problems so far but next turn will see a lot of cars smooshing into the narrow part of the track...

Turn 2 Summary
Mossman settles in at his top speed of 140, dropping a tire in S2. Tatum takes the Esses at 100 for free.

LaMorte runs S1 at 120 for a wear then pulls up on the numbers of the #50 after finishing out the Esses. Coyle, also at 120, takes the outer rail in S1 for free and tucks in behind the #2 in S2.

Incorpora, at 120, takes S1 for a wear in the 100's and grabs the tailpipe of the flag car after entering S2.

Hancock gets the initiative at 140 and clips 2 tires in the S1 100's. Ling goes 2nd, also at 140. He opts to burn only 1 wear in the 120's and sits on the bumper of the Intimidator. Orlandi goes last out of his row at 120, burning a tire in the S1 100's.

Ales hits the S1 100's for a wear at 120 and with the bonus pulls alongside the #18. Torrezno, also at 120, scrapes off a tire in the S1 100's but has no place to use his slip.

Brown, at 120 and the bonus, drops a tire in the S1 100's to pull even with the #25.

Brandt watches the show from behind at 80.

No shenanigans yet. Please be as specific as you can with your plots. Provide defaults. Help me help you!

Turn 3 Summary
Mossman clips a tire at 140 through the Tunnel 120's.

Tatum takes a free ride on the outer Tunnel at 120. LaMorte burns a wear in the Tunnel 100's.

Coyle scrapes off a wear in the Tunnel 100's at 120 and pulls alongside the #2 with the bonus. Incorpora drops a tire at 120 in the Tunnel 100's but has no place to use the slip.

Hancock takes S2 at 120 for free.

Ling runs the S2 at 140 for a wear and slides up on the numbers of the black Chevy. Ales goes next at 120 and tucks in behind the #3. Orlandi played it soft at 100 and grabs the tailpipe on the #88.

At 120 and the bonus, Torrezno slingshots past the #18, and sits on the bumper of the #17. Brown eases down to 100 and tucks in behind the Interstate Chevy.

Brandt keeps his wear in check at 120 as he takes S1 on the outer rail for free. Lots of clean air in the back... for now.

The Tunnel causes some separation but that won't last as the cars approach the Carousel.

Turn 4 Summary
Mossman continues down the stretch at 140.

LaMorte and Coyle make up some ground on the leader at 160.

Incorpora and Tatum keep the pace, also at 160.

Ling gets the initiative at 140 and clips two tires in the Tunnel 100. Hancock, at 120, burns a wear in the 100 before tucking in behind the #17.

Ales runs the Tunnel 100 at 120 for a wear and pulls even with the Intimidator via the slip. Torrezno opts to save wear at 120 on the outer rail and keeps up with the pack via the bonus.

Orlandi takes the outer rail in the Tunnel for free at 120 but fails to ask for the slip. Brown follows the groove of the #18 and foregoes the bonus to keep his slip opportunity intact next turn.

Brandt finishes the Ess curves for free at 120.

Hancock, at 160 and the bonus, slides up next the #17. Ales grabs the tailpipe on the Dewalt car at 160.

Torrezno pulls up on the numbers of the #88 at 160 and the slip.

Orlandi drops the hammer at 180. Brown shows off his engine at 180 as well. With the double bonus he whips around the #18.

The chase pack is through or in the Carousel while the putt-putt race leader keeps them at bay.

Turn 6 Summary
Mossman finishes the Carousel at 140.

LaMorte and Colye also complete the Carousel at 140 with the #99 car sliding into the exhaust of the #2.

Both Incorpora and Tatum tackle the Carousel at 140 with the #8 car opting for the 2 wear option in the 100's and the #50 dropping one tire in the 120's.

Hancock gets the initiative at 140 and clips 2 tires in the Carousel 100's before grabbing the tailpipe on the red Budweiser car. Ling, at 120, takes a free ride on the outer rail and with the slip can accelerate out of the corner next turn.

Torrezno, at 140, has the initiative and burns 2 wear in the Carousel 100's. Ales, at 120, runs the Carousel 120's for free and pulls in behind the #17 with the bonus.

Brown takes the Carousel 120's for free at 120 but forgets to ask for the slip. Orlandi, also at 120, follows the groove of the #38 for free.

Brandt runs down the straight at 160.

This turn was a bit of a mess with a fair amount of late braking, one bad dice roll, and an RM plot.

Turn 7 Summary
Mossman continues to set a slow pace at the front, closing in on the Kink at 140.

LaMorte, at 140, causes some troubles for the field.

Coyle pulls up next to the #2 at 160. Incorpora has no place to put his Chevy at 160 and must brake down to 140 with a wear.

Tatum slots his car next to the #8 at 160. Hancock takes an RM plot which puts her at 140 and on the outer rail (a rare occasion when the RM plot doesn't hurt too much).

Torrezno drops the hammer at 180 but after finding the track blocked he brakes down to 160 on the tables w/ 1sp (modified 10). The failed test costs a wear and enters him into the wimpy brake club.

Ling must also brake down after plotting 160. That'll cost him a wear.

Ales finishes out the Carousel at 120. Brown and Orlandi also finish the corner at 120 with Brown unsuccessfully attempting to shake the #18 by going outside.

Brandt finally sheds some rubber (2 wear) at 160 in the Carousel 120's. I'm betting he's feeling pretty happy about where he is right now!

The chase pack has caught the leader. How much longer will Mossman have clean air?

Big Bend may cause some headaches - please be prepared to deal with traffic in your plots!

Congratulations to Don Tatum for winning the CFR tournament at Prezcon! Perhaps you have a run-down and some pics, Mr. Brandt?

Turn 8 Summary
Mossman takes the Kink for free at 120 before grabbing the Big Bend line.

Coyle gets the initiative and clips a tire in the Kink. He grabs the line behind the #14. LaMorte drops to 120, taking the Kink for free.

Tatum gets the initiative at 140, pays a wear for the Kink, then swerves through traffic with the bonus to move up three places. Incorpora runs the Kink at 120 for free and tucks in behind the #99 with the slip.

Torrezno scrapes off a wear at 140 through the Kink. Hancock, at 120 and the bonus, keeps up with her row mate.

Ling pulls into the Kink for free at 120 and the slip. Ales, at 160, pulls up to the Kink and sits on the tail of the #17.

Brown drops the hammer at 180 and tucks in behind the #88. Orlandi plots 160 and with the double slip pulls alongside the numbers of the #38.

Brandt finishes the Carousel at 160 and continues to run traffic-free.
