Turn 23 from Chris via email

Turyko and Giovanni both plot 140 and end on the outer line before 'The 90'.

Fabio and Tim head down the straight at 140 while Doug goes 160 ending outside of Tim. Jim plots 140 and takes a slip from Doug, staying behind him.

Marshall plots 60! He ends on the line claiming he is not intending to be evil!

Now for some action. The Steward hoped for "bits". No cigar!

Rando wanted to run the line in Triangle, but it is blocked. He goes through the outside lane spending 1w ending inside of Marshall.

Dave B must have had a premonition, he provided orders three deep. He plots 100 and elects to go through the inside 40 for 2w and a chance using his 3s. He rolls 2+3-3=2 and succeeds! He jumps into 7th place.

Chris L plots 80 and also finds the line blocked. He takes the 40 for 2w ending inside of Rando, picking up two spaces.

John W. heads down the straight at 140 ending on the line. Mike moves up behind John at 160.

So some position shuffling. 'The 90' may be interesting, but only if the drivers are BOLD!

Turn 24 Deadline Friday Jan 6 at 6pm PST.

Turn Correction (track updated)

I muffed Chris L.'s plot. He should be behind Rando at the end of the corner, not beside him. He spent only 1w not 2. Apologies to Chris.

Most cars considerably faster then sector 1 on lap 1 (with the notable exception of the dark blue car just barely 1mph faster)

Turn 24 via email from Chris

More dice but NO bits! I will have a talk to the die roller, certainly one would expect a range of results! Oh well, on to the report.

Turyko Giovanni both take "The 90" at 100 on the line for 1w. Fabio plots 140 ending on the outer line before "The 90".

Doug takes the initiative over Tim by plotting 140 to Tim's 120. Doug takes the inside line leaving Tim with a couple of choices. I elected to have him take the outside line taking the slip and ending beside Doug. Jim plots 140 with a slip. He ends inside of Doug as his third choice.

Dave heads down the straight at 160.

Now for the dice. Both Rando and Marshall push their accel. Rando rolls 4+1-1=4 and gets to 160 while Marshall rolls 6+1-1=6 for 140. Marshall ends behind Rando.

Chris plots 160 and also takes a slip ending outside of Rando.

John takes Triangle at using 1w. Mike plots 100 but sees John is blocking the line, so he late brakes with a rollof 2+3-1=4 and spends 1w on the line, ending behind John. He continues to live in hope of a slip from John!

Turn 25 Deadline is Jan 9 at 6pm PST or more probably sooner!

Correction from Chris

Guys, it has come to my attention that I placed Tim outside in error, or at least, not in complete accordance with the default rules. He had specified only one plot with no options. When Doug took the initiative I was left with a decision and I reasoned outside was the most likely of the two options. However, I was reading the COTA rules and see that when a plot is not possible and no other option is covered in the submitted move, the default has to be inside! This switches Tim and Jim.

The attached file represents that change and the actual cars and their small markers in place for the start of Turn 25.

I doubt anyone other than Tim and Jim are affected by this.

I have learned that the COTA house rules are very specific in some places, this situation being one of them.

I will leave the deadline as Jan 9, but will be lenient with that. I have quite a few moves already in any case.

The life of a steward is actually fun, but sometimes humbling!

Turn 25 from Chris

This turn brings position changes and more successful dice rolls! Doug and Jim move up to 3rd and 4th.

Interesting to see how the different car builds are fairing with the 40 40 cars starting to come under pressure. Chris's 80 80 car is making a move. he is now into 7th.

Wear is also becoming an issue while Rando still has to unleash his 11 wear.

John and Mike are still playing cat and mouse in the back.

The report:

Turyko goes conservative using the 80s for no wear in the Hairpin. Giovanni gains a space plotting 120, although he is forced into the 100 space for 1w.

Fabio hard brakes down to 80 rolling 1+2=3. He continues on the outer line for 1w.

Doug and Jim both plot 100 with Tim going 80. Doug has the initiative and continues on the inner line using 2w ending in front of Fabio. Jim can't use either line so spends 2w through the 60s ending inside. Tim goes 80 through the middle lane spending 1w and ending behind Jim.

Dave heads toward 'The 90" at 140 ending on the outer line.

Chris uses his 80 accel and successfully pushes his top to 180 with a roll of 4+2=6. He ends on the inside line getting ahead of Dave. Rando moves 160 on to the outer line.

Marshall plotted 140 slip and ends behind Rando on the outer line.

John starts down the straight at 140. Finally Mike John with a plot of 140 slip. He wanted to end behind John, but with John only going 140 he ends outside of John.

Turn 26 Deadline is Wednesday Jan 11 at 9pm pst or more likely sooner.

Turn 26 from Chris

Sorry all, I was disturbed when doing this last evening and so I am a little tardy.

A new leader! The dice turn, at least for one unfortunate!

Turyko plotted 80, staying inside. Giovanni takes the lead by accelerating to 120. He spends an additional wear in the hairpin and 2w in the Amphitheater.

Doug takes the inside of the hairpin at 60 for 0w and is handily place in third place.

Fabio and Jim both plot 80 with Jim having the initiative and taking the 80s in the Hairpin. Fabio is forced outside.

Tim plotted 100 but finds all lanes blocked. He late brakes before the Hairpin and fails with a roll of 4+6=10! He re plots to 80 and his decel is reduced to 20.

Chris makes use of his 80 decel and plots 100 and takes the inside line for 2w. Dave goes 120 in the outer line 2w and ends beside Chris.

Rando plots 100 using the outer line for 1w. Marshall plotted 100 on the line and called for a slip, which is not available. He takes the outer line for 1w and ends behind Rando.

Now the drag race in the back. John and Mike both push top. John uses 1s and rolls 2+2-1=3 and is Ok. He takes the inside line. Mike rolled naked and is also OK with a roll of 2+6=8.

So Tim gets it in the teeth with his roll, the rest escape once again. Sorry Tim.

Deadline for Turn 27 Moves is set for Monday Jan 16

AND

Turn 27 from Chris

Another fast turn round.

Dice rolled but no bits. Doug in third is well placed but has spent wear to get there. Jim is in 4th and has 9 wear yet, so still may be a player over the last lap. Rando also has 9w but is a little way back. Mike has 11 wear and surely must cut the tether to John soon!

Giovanni pulls away from Turyko at 120 who completes the middle lane of The Amphitheater at 80. Doug pulls in behind Turyko at 120 for 2w in the 80s. Jim maintains 80.
Tim and Fabio are tied and both plot 80, so Tim has the initiative. He goes through the 60 (his only choice) for 1w and ends beside Jim. Fabio maintains and ends behind Jim. Chris has the initiative over Dave by plotting 100 through the 80s for 1w ending beside Fabio. Dave takes the 80s for 0w ending behind Fabio.
Rando plots 80 spending 1w in the 60s, handily completing the corner.
Marshall goes 100 but gets no slip from Rando and ends in the 80 corner for 1w.
John hard brakes using 1s and succeeds with a roll of 3+1-1=2! He continues on the line for 2w. Mike plots 120 using 2w on the outer line ending besides John. Joined at the hip those two!

Turn 28 due Monday 9pm PST.

Turn 28 from Chris

This turn saw quite a lot of wear burned and the two guys with lots of wear starting to use it.

Giovanni takes the 80s at 120 for 2w. Turyko also plots 120.

Jim and Tim both plot 80, so Jim has the initiative and takes the 80s for 0w. Tim is forced inside through the 60s for 1w.

Fabio and Chris both plot 100, so Fabio gets the initiative. He has to go through the 60s for 2w and gets ahead of both Tim and Jim. Chris is forced outside for 1w.

Dave goes 100 and spends 1w in the 80s end ends behind Jim.

Rando has all possibilities covered! He goes 120 and takes the 100s for 1w ending behind Chris.

Marshall maintains100 and enters the 100s in The Amphitheater for 0w.

Finally the Mike/John tangles appear to be over. Mike puts the pedal to the floor and burns some wear, taking the 80s for 2w. Nice to have wear! John simply goes 80 through the 80s for 0w. Tough to be short of wear!

Next turn Giovanni will start the final lap. It will be interesting to see if he can hold off the chasers. Rando has supplied me his prediction for who will finish where. To be kept safely confidential till the end when we all see whether he is any good at predictions!

Turn 29 Deadline is Tuesday Jan 17 at 6pm PST

See track in next post.

Correction from Chris

I moved Dave in error, his orders actually specified go outside if no slip available. Clearly I mis-calculated the outside line thinking it blocked for a 100 move.

Rando is then forced into the middle lane for 2w not 1w spent outside.

Of course Rando you actually picked up 2 positions!

Deadline stays the same.

Turn 29 from Chris

We start the last lap.

Giovanni pushes top using 1s and is successful with a roll of 2+5-1=6. Turyko goes through Paddock at 100 for 1w in the middle lane. Doug also goes through the middle lane for 1w at 100.

Fabio heads up to Paddock at 100.

Jim goes 120 ending outside of Fabio.

Chris maintains 100 while Rando maintains 120 and ends outside.

Dave slows to 80 completing The Amphitheater for 0w.

Marshall goes 100 for 1w.

Mike takes the middle lane at 80 for ow and John takes the 100s for 0w.

So next turn sees Giovanni having to take the Wall! Clearly trying to open up a gap from the two chasing him.

Rando has 7w but needs to get past three guys are likely not going to give him a break. Mike still has 9w but has a lot to do.

I see cars pushing their cars throughout, Bits!? Very good. I remain amazed how cars in this race have suffered so little damage with lots of dice!

Turn 30 Deadline is Friday 6pm pst or earlier.

Turn 30 from Chris

Here is an update from Chris. I posted the corrected track.

I have a terrible confession to make. I had transcribed in my notes before administering Giovanni's plot as using 1s and 2w, which meant 120 in to the corner. He actually said brake with 1s and 2w. So he would not do a spin roll because he would be going 100 into the corner and the roll would succeed on braking. I did not look back at his plot as a check before sending out as I usually do!!!

-------------------------

Giovanni elects to push things in The Wall taking it at 120 for 2w and a chance. He spins with a roll of 3+5-1=7! He re plots to 0 and will move at 40 next turn!

Turyko goes 140 ending in the middle lane. Doug takes a slip and his 140 takes him inside of Turyko and second place.

Tim hears on the radio "Spin ahead"! He goes 100 for no additional wear ending inside.

Next Jim has the advantage at 120 using the 80s for 2w and orders inside, putting him inside ahead of Tim!

Fabio goes 100 through the 80s for 1w ending beside Tim.

Rando plots 100 and uses the 60s for 2w to pull outside of Fabio and Tim.

Chris goes through to 80s for 0w, completing Paddock.

Dave takes the outside lane in Paddock at 100 for 0w. Marshall goes 100 ending inside getting no slip.

Mike accelerates to 120 ending beside Marshall.

Finally John drops to 80 continuing through the 80s for 0w.

So eventful this turn and Doug and Turyko have decisions to make. Giovanni just might be an issue?! Jim looks well placed to take a run at the cars ahead, but he only has top speed of 140! Rando has joined the three abreast right behind him, but no slip for him next turn. We will see what happens.

Deadline Turn 31 is Friday 6pm PST or, more likely, sooner.

Turn 31 from Chris

Giovanni accelerates and uses the line in Bridge for 0w, pulling well clear of the chasers.

Turyko takes the initiative with a plot of 100. He moves two spaces and late brakes with no modifier. He succeeds with a roll of 5+1=6. He re plots to 80 and takes the line for 1w, clearing The Wall.

Doug starts at 80 and also moves two spaces and late brakes. He also succeeds with a roll of 6+3=9. Close! He re plots to 60 and takes the 40 inside for 1w.

Jim simply plots 140 and stays inside.

Now for the three abreast group. Rando claims the initiative with a plot of 160. He ends beside Jim. Tim plots 140, but also takes a slip ending outside of Rando on the line. Fabio also plotted 140 and ends behind Rando.

Chris accelerates to 160.

Dave slows to 80 and completes Paddock for 0w ending inside.

Marshall goes through the 80s at 100 for 1w and ends in front of Dave. Mike also goes through the 80s but at 80 for 0w and ends beside Dave.

Finally John goes 100 into the 100 space in Paddock.

Now to double check this interesting turn twice before pressing the send button.

Edit from Chris
Rando pointed out that he had actually claimed the line instead of inside. He is correct. The attached file switches Tim and Rando.

Note: The track below has Mike (grey) one space forward of where it should be. He is next to Dave.

Turn 32 due Monday at 6pm PST or more likely before if all plots are in.

Turn 32 from Chris

Now to Turn 32 and this took a while! For sure everyone should double check my report, there is lots going on.

Up front then...

Giovanni goes 120 for 0w. Doug pushes his accel and rolls 6+3=9, close again but OK. He takes the initiative and ends on the line in Bridge at 120.

Now to The Wall.

Tim gains the initative plotting 120. He takes the outside for 2w and a chance using 2s. He succeeds with a roll of 5+3-2=6. He ends on the line! Congratulations Tim, first to 0w and 0s!

Next is Jim at 100. He late brakes before the corner using 2s and rolls 1+5-2=4, OK. He re plots to 80 and takes the 40 for 2w ending inside.

Rando also goes 100 through the 60s for 2w ending in the middle lane by default.

Fabio plots 100 and late brakes before the corner and rolls 3+5=8 OK. He re plots to 80 and takes the line for 1w and completes The Wall.

Chris also plots 100 but takes the 40 for 2w and a chance. He rolls 6+2=8 and spins! He re plots to 0 and will move after Fabio next turn at 60.

Marshall heads down the straight at 160 ending on the line.

Dave tries to go 160 by pushing his accel using 1s. He fails on a roll of 6+6-1=11. His accel is reduced to 40. However, with the slip, he still moves ahead of Mike who is also moving at 140.

Finally John slows to 80 and completes Paddock for 0w.

A most interesting turn I must say.

Turn 33 from Chris

Turn 33 Report

Giovanni plots 100 following the line in S1 and S2 for 0w. How good it is to be leading!

Doug plots 120 and takes the line in S1 for 0w.

Turyko also moves at 120 on the line in S1 for 0w and ends on S2 line.

Jim pushes his accel using 2s. He succeeds with a roll of 5+1-2=4. He has the initiative and takes the line at 140 for 0W through Bridge finishing outside.

Tim also takes the line in Bridge at 140 for 0w and ends inside of the Jim.

Rando simply goes 140 for 0w in Bridge.

Fabio plots 120 and takes a slip and the line in Bridge for 0w.

Chris moves 60 ending inside!

Marshall plots 100, moves one space and late brakes using 2s. He succeeds with a roll of 1+2-2=1. He re plots to 80 and takes the line in The Wall for 1w.

Dave slows to 100 and finding the line blocked goes outside in The Wall for 2w.

Mike moves 80 with no slip available and takes the 40 space for 2w.

Finally John heads down the straight at 160 ending outside.

A fairly dull turn from the Steward's point of view. No bits!

Deadline for Turn 34 is Thursday at 6pm PST or more likely before!
