The Truth About Foot Ball

In a recent article [Issue #2, Match Report] our internationally renowned journalist reported the referee explaining that France had invented the game of foot ball. The hacks at NFATG claim this is not true!

Whilst we understand NFATG's desire to interject their opinion, we need only point out that their representative is an American, someone who uses the phrase "foot ball" to describe a game played primarily with the hands.

Some claim that foot ball was invented in the islands to the north of France. This is clearly untrue. A reference to a corrupted form of the game was made by a Lord Mayor of London during the middle ages, who - writing in French we might add - complained about its violent and uncouth nature when compared to the more civilised version in France.

Here at the Red, White & Bugle, we know that France not only invented foot ball, she also invented cricket, tennis, democracy, the Statue of Liberty, and croissants.
