News From Around The Globe presents This Day in History.
May 11, 1189, Emporer Frederick I Barbarossa departed Regensburg with 100,000 crusaders marching to reclaim the Holy Land lost in the Second Crusade. Holy Roman Emporer Barbarossa drowned in a river before reaching the Holy Land, but his crusaders went on to successfully recapture the cities or Acre and Jaffa before falling short at Jerusalem. We here at NFATG raise a glass to Emporer Barbarossa for inspiring his troops to glory in spite of his own failings as a swimmer.
Meanwhile, in modern day Europe, the city of Regensburg resides in Germany, near Munich, where German troops were waylaid by a flock of Geese crossing the highway. Unable to reach Austria before winter due to these delays, the troops were forced to return home. Maybe next year, boys.
Elsewhere, years of political unrest between Argentina and Bolivia have ceased. Word on the street is that they have finally come to realize a common taste for Chilean Sea Bass. Both countries have sent ambassodors to Chile to negotiate new deals for increased production of this delicious sea creature. We contacted the offices of the President of Chile to see how negotiations were going, but were told no comment. We can only assume negotiations are going well, and that we will receive word of a new deal soon.
In a continuing storyline from last season, Russian Air Force pilots remain grounded in Irkutsk due to the inflated cost of jet fuel. Scientists are working hard to find new ways to fuel their jets in a more cost-effective manner.
And finally, many of our readers have expressed concern over reports from the competing news outlet Red, White, and Bugle. Please do not be alarmed. The French did not invent football. This is nothing more than propaganda. It is not necessary to give the French any credit for that, or really for anything.
And that's all for today from NFATG. Good night and good news.
