It doesn't look like the lap record is in jeopardy this lap.

A pass for the lead and a jump in the mid pack.

Next deadline: turn 27 due Friday, February 5 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 26 results:
Kal is pedal to the metal across the s/f line but Willy passes a naked roll and roars to 200mph and the race lead! Doug takes the slip off Kal to pull along side his orange car.

John starts the middle group through the Curva Parabolica at 140 around the inside for a wear. Rando and Tim both do 140 around the outside for free. Chris uses his position to gain a slip and doing 140 around the inside scrubs off some rubber but moves up two spots to 5th.

Will blazes into the corner at 180 dropping 2 wear. Tony and Gatlin both use their top speeds to pull to the entrance of the corner and now have a decision to make if they want to keep Will in their midst.

Some excitement and unfriendly dice this turn.

Next deadline: Monday, February 8 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 27 results:
Willy stands hard on the brakes and manages to get slowed to 120mph before entering the Variante Del Rettifilo but the chicane proves more than his match. We hear that he has been seen at the track hospital and released. As an anti-climax to that action, Kal and Brad both slow to 120 preparing to enter that same corner at a much more manageable speed one would presume.

John and Chris match 180s down the Rittifilo Tribune which allows Rando and Tim respectively to use 2 space slips to pass them both. With the exit of the dark blue car that translates to a gain of 3 position for each driver.

Will continues to blaze <figuratively> around the parabola for his already paid wear. Gatlin scrubs half his remaining rubber off to follow Will around also at 180. Tony takes the outside at 140 and saves his wear for later.

More unfriendly dice. And the next turn through the chicane should be interesting.

Next deadline: turn 29 due Wednesday, February 10 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 28 results:
Kal scrubs off 2 wear through the Variante Del Rettifino on the racing line. Brad takes the same route but without the line he slows to 60 and drops only 1 wear. Rando gets the initiative on Tim by plotting 120 and sticking with it into the chicane which promptly rises up to bite him.

Tim also plotted 120 but chose to shave a bit off the brake pads and grabs the line into the corner. John plots 120 and lines up inside the red machine. Chris also plots 120 and swings wide at the chicane's entrance.

Will slows just a bit to 160 to set up for his passage through what has become a bane on the racers. Gatlin conservatively plots 140 but with the slip stays right behind Will. Tony jams the gas for 180 and picks up the tail of the queue.

The first group gets through the chicane unscathed but the second group is now three wide at the entrance.

Next deadline: turn 30 due Friday, February 12 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 29 results:
Kal and Brad get away thanks to Rando's spin making it a two horse race. Kal has the slight edge with 1 skill and 1 more wear left. Rando starts up at 20 forcing the following drivers to go forsake the racing line.

Chris gets the jump on the three wide going 100 through the 60s for 2 wear. John slows to 80 but uses the first 40 space to scrub off 2 wear and hang with Chris. Tim has nowhere to go at 80 except the long way through the corner burning 1 wear.

Will uses a skill to brake to 100 and set up on the racing line at Rettifilo. Gatlin goes 120 pulling along side Will on the outside. Tony plots 140 and has no choice but to fill in the inside lane.

Variante Del Rettifilo claims its last victim. Rando gets back into the fray.

Next deadline: turn 31 due Monday, February 15 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 30 results:
Kal burns 2 wear on the final slow corner of the race leaving him 1 more. Brad climbs right back up on Kal's wing but he only has 2 wear left.

John takes a naked roll on the acceleration and passes to maintain 3rd place. Chris plots 160 and sticks his machine in behind John's. Tim plots 160 with no mention of exceeding acceleration so he takes a naked roll and passes, lining up behind Chris. [RM note: since the plot does not exceed the cars capability rule II.B.7 does not apply and instead rule II.B.4.a was applied] Rando gets the benefit of both an acceleration roll and a 2 space slipstream off of John to keep up with the mid pack.

Tony uses his maximum deceleration, dropping to 100mph. He spends 2 wear in the 40 space and throws 3 skill at a chance roll. True to form the chicane throws them right back and he spins. Will also plots 100 and wanted the line but with the spinning black machine foiling that plan the 2 wear are instead spent in the 60s. Gatlin slows to 60 but scuffs 1 wear off the tires in the 40 space at the corner exit.

The mid pack stays bunched but the back three create some separation.

Next deadline: turn 32 due Wednesday, February 17 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 31 results:
Kal continues at 120 for already paid wear and sets up to tackle the Curva Di Lesmo combination. Brad spend his last tire treads to keep up through Roggia at 120.

John scrubs half his remaining wear to enter the 2nd chicane at 120. Chris takes a slip from John and stays right behind him on the racing line. Tim gets the initiative on Rando by plotting 140, tucking in next to Chris. Rando goes 120 and catches the racing line right on Chris's tailpipe.

Will uses his accelerator to get to 160 and pull away from Gatlin. Gatlin meanwhile uses 2 of his large stash of skill to increase his acceleration and get to 120. [RM note: being on a racing line does not qualify as "directly behind" for a slip. You must be in the same lane as the car in front.] Tony picks up the pieces at 60mph but must do it through the 60s since a car recovering from a spin cannot benefit from a racing line.

Kal clears Lesmo in one move, Tim tries to tackle Roggia at 140mph

Next deadline: turn 33 due Friday, February 19 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 32 results:
Kal covers both sides of Curva Di Lesmo at 120 holding on to the final 1/32 of an inch of rubber. Brad sets up on the racing line for B and has a decision to make.

John continues through Varianted Della Roggia at 120, wear already paid and sets up on the racing line for A. Tim plots 140mph (misplot?) and enters the chicane 80mph over the safe speed which is automatically a crash with no debris rolls. Chris and Rando both take the racing line after watching the red machine fly clear off the track.

Will sets up on the Roggia line. Gatlin does 140 down the straightaway and Tony continues his spin recovery at 120.

Two drivers did not specify the racing line this turn when it was obvious they would use it. I decided to allow them both: Rando because of the confusion last turn with Tim which was fully my fault, and Gatlin because I allowed it for Rando. Again I remind you all that this being an exhibition I have no qualms doing these things. But for those of you who may end up in C3 for the regular season I suggest you become very familiar with Redscape rule III, especially the section on omitted information. I will have much less flexibility then. Besides, I hate making decisions. And it only took me 20 years in airport management and close to that as a private pilot to figure that out! :)

And now, on to our show...Kal stretches it out a bit on Brad but the fat lady ain't singin' yet. Rando and Will have a major edge in wear, let's see how much it gains them.

Next deadline: turn 34 due Monday, February 22 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 33 results:
Kal gives it all it has to pull away from Brad who has to coax his bare tires around Lesmo B at a safe 120.

John gets the perfect line around Lesmo taking A and B in one shot. Chris slides through the A side and moves inside. Rando follows at the same safe 140 but takes a slip to pull along side the yellow machine.

Will drops 2 of his large cache of wear in Roggia at 120. Gatlin conserves what's left of his rubber at 80mph. Tony keeps it at 120 to allow him room to get slowed and keep safe next turn.

An interesting turn. The 2nd place car's engine folds under the strain. The wear leaders start burning some.

Next deadline: turn 35 due Wednesday, February 24 at 6pm EST/11pm UTC

Turn 34 results:
Kal tiptoes up to the final chicane, keeping his options open in the center lane. Brad tries for 180mph to grab Kal's tailpipe but his engine fails to cooperate. With no wear or skill left he not only will have a hard time catching Kal but just holding second will be a challenge. And that challenge will probably come from John first whos engine does hold at 200mph.

Rando flies around Lesmo B at 160 and 2 wear to start his move up to John. Chris keeps to a safe 120 but loses the draft from Rando.

Will, the other wear leader, scrubs half the remaining rubber of his tires flying the Lesmo combination at 160 and puts the yellow machine in his crosshairs. Gatlin coaxes a little extra acceleration out of his race car to clear the A side at 140. Tony, out of wear, foregoes the dice to take Roggia at 80.
