That was the tightest bidding we've ever had. Three bid points separate the pole from the #12 spot. There were three ties, each with three drivers. There is something magical about the number three in this race. What does that mean for Kal, sitting in the black #3 Intimidator?

Thanks for your patience, gents. It's been a long day...

Anyway, time to drop the green flag... and look at the #3 coming out of the back row to make a statement! The race is on fellas.

Turn 1 Summary
Tim C. takes off from the pole at 100. Will's 20 could cause some problems for the field - we shall see. Tim B. gets the initiative at 120 with his 3sp chit on the push (modified 2). He pulls alongside the Kellogg's car to make it an 'all Tim' front row. Mike moves next at 60. Brad earns the initiative at 100 and drops in front of the #25 (thanks, Brad!). At 60, John grabs the bumper on the red Marines car. Cody continues the conga line behind the Texaco car at 60. Also at 60, Fabio tucks in behind the #6. Rando pushes his speed to 80 with 2 sp (modifed 7) to make it three-wide on the track. At 60, Chris grabs the bumper on the M&M's car. Kal pushes to 120 with 2 sp (modified 8) and with a blocked track, attempts a forced pass on Rando with another sp (modified 3). The lucky #3 jumps four spots with some deft driving. Todd brings up the rear at 60 and completes a long conga line behind the Home Depot car.

Go Kal & Rando! Making big moves on the outside of the chase pack.

Please note the unusual corners and straights ahead. You can shift lanes in First Curve after both the first and second spaces. The Dunlop Curve (after the S Curves) is not speed restricted but there are limitations on lane switching. Remember that you can only switch lanes when the fronts of the spaces line up. Be specific with your plots and provide alternatives to avoid getting hung up in that area.

I have added additional signage to some curves for easy identification in your plots.

Turn 2 Summary
Tim C. takes the inside of 'First Curve' for 2 wear at 140. With the inside lane occupied, Tim B. takes the outer lane for 1 wear. Brad enters 'First Curve' for free at 140. Mike stays on the bumper of the #50 car at 120 plus the bonus. Kal gets the initiative at 160 and pulls alongside the #25 car. John keeps up with the conga line at 120 and the slip. Will tests his engine with 2sp to hit 100 (modified 0). Rando has the initiative at 140 and with the slip on the #3 car, tags along for the ride. Cody stays on the tail of the #28 car at 120 and the bonus. At 120, Fabio pulls up next to the slow-staring #6 car. Chris makes it three-wide at 120 and the slip. Todd stays with the pack, also gaining the bonus at 120.

All cars successfully merged into two lanes. Don't forget to specify your routes in the high-speed Dunlop corners and provide alternatives for blockages. There is another high-speed corner between the Hairpin and the Spoon to which I'll add the name '200R' (next turn). I've seen the corner labeled that way in some images.

Turn 3 Summary
Tim C. keeps his lead at 140, travelling for free through the S#1 lines and shedding 2 wear on the 100 space in S#2. Tim B. finishes First Curve at 140 and takes the S#1 lines for free. Continuing at 140 on the inside of First Curve, Brad drops 2 wear and takes the S#1 line for free. Mike plots 160, enters First Curve then brakes down to 140 with the dice (naked 6). He finishes First Curve on the inside for 2 wear and enters S#1 on the line for free. At 160, Kal burns 2 wear on the outside lane of First Curve and enters S#1 on the 140 for a third wear. John takes First Curve on the outside for a wear and stays on the #25 bumper with the slip. There was no request for the line. At 120, Rando takes the outside lane on First Curve for free and with the slip is able to grab the tail on the #28. Cody drops a wear on the inside of First Curve at 120, pulling alongside the #18 car with the slip. Chris gets the initiative out of the three-wide at 160. He takes the outer lane in First Curve with 2 wear and extends the conga line behind the Interstate car. Fabio moves next at 140, taking the outer First Curve for a wear. At 120, Will sheds a wear in First Curve on the inside. Todd stays with the pack at 120 for free in First Curve.

Turn 4 Deadline: Friday, September 18th @ 10 a.m. EDT (2 p.m. GMT).
Sorry about the inconsistent times for Fridays - they're a bit of a wild card for me.

John & Cody tie things up behind them...

Turn 4 Summary
Tim C. creates separation from the chase pack at 160 through the Dunlop curves. Tim B. sheds 2 wear in S2 at 140. Brad also drops 2 wear in S2 at 140 and grabs the bumper of the #21 car. Mike follows suit at 140, using 2 wear in S2. Kal maintains speed at 160, grabbing the 2nd line in S1 (wear already paid) and the 120's in S2 for 2 wear. He sits on the tail of the #25 car in Dunlop. At 120, John takes the inside of S1 for free and the outer 120's for free in S2. Cody gets the initiative at 140. He takes the lines in S1, conserves his wear in the 120's in S2, and pulls up to the left rear panel on the #28 car. Rando uses the 120's in S1 for free at 120 then cuts to the outside in S2, also for free. At 120, Chris hits the S1 120's for free, brakes down to 100 with 1sp (modified 5), and pulls up next to the #18 car in the S2 100 space. Will gets through S1 for free on the racing line at 140 then sheds a wear in S2, tucking in behind the Interstate car. At 120, Fabio cruises through the S1 120's for free. Todd burns a wear as he completes First Curve at 120 then runs S1 on the 120's for free as he grabs the tailpipe of the #17 car.

Plots were a bit sloppy this turn. Pay attention!

Failed to ask for racing line: Tim B & Tim C (cost wear)
Failed to ask for dice roll: Mike (cost wear)
Failed to ask for slip: Todd (cost 1 space)

Lines and slips MUST be asked for. The default for emergency braking is wear, not the dice.

Turn 5 Summary
Tim C. takes the inside on Degner for 1 wear at 100 (no line requested). Tim B. also uses the inside lane on Degner for a wear (no line requested). At 120, Brad sheds a wear in the outside lane on Degner. Mike plots 140 but with no place to go, brakes to 120 prior to Degner (1 wear) and tucks in behind the #21 car. Kal pulls into Degner beside the #25 car at 120 plus the slip. John grabs the innermost space prior to the corner at 160. Also at 160, Cody grabs the bumper of the #28 car. Chris passes the #38 at 160 plus the slip and slides in next to the Texaco car. Rando has no place to use his slip as he pulls up on the tailpipe of the #20. Will finishes S2 at 140. Fabio drops 2 wear on the S2 100 at 140, pulling alongside the #6 car. Todd brings up the rear, dropping a wear at 120 in the S2 100's.

Suzuka is taking it's toll. Is this track really meant for a dozen cars?!

More slovenly plots result in more headaches. Mis-plots, late brakes, and omitted conditionals - oh my! Meanwhile, boxcars for poor Chris, who did foresee the traffic  .

Turn 6 Results
Tim C. pulls up to the Hairpin on the line at 140. Tim B. keeps pace, also at 140. Brad finishes Denger at 120. Mike drops his speed to 100, finishes Denger for free on the line, and tucks in behind the #50. Kal sheds a wear at 120 as he enters the 100 portion of Denger. He pulls alongside the #25 car. At 120, John takes the Denger line for a wear then runs into a rolling roadblock. He spends another wear as he emergency brakes to 100. Anticipating the mayhem ahead, Chris brakes down to 100 from his plotted speed of 120 after moving one space. The 1 sp didn't help him on his failed dice roll (modified 11), costing a wear and brake damage. Cody drops a wear in the Denger line at 120 and also runs into traffic. He goes to the dice (naked 7) as he brakes down to 100. Rando loses a wear for exceeding his deceleration by 20. At 80, he takes the line, pulling in behind the #38. Fabio sheds 2 wear in the Denger 100's to grab an inside lane next to the #18. Will takes the Denger line for free at 100. Todd pulls into Denger at 120, dropping in on the tailpipe of the #6 car.

Thanks Jim! Good stuff.

Not too many issues on the track this turn but the Hairpin could prove to be... difficult. The 'Tims' will be putting some asphalt between them and the chase pack next turn.

FYI - I labeled the little high-speed corner 'T10'.

Turn 7 Summary
Tim C. takes the Hairpin line at 80 for a wear. Tim B. drops 2 wear on the line. Brad enters the Hairpin on the line for 2 wear at 100. Mike burns off some speed in T10 at 120 and grabs the line. Kal does the same and slides to the inside of the #25 in front of the Hairpin. John also takes the outside of T10 at 120 to take the upcoming line but has no space to use the slip. Chris follows at 120 and ducks inside of the #28 car. Using the inside of the T10 corner, Cody has no place to go at 120 and hits the brakes on the tables (naked 4) down to 100. At 120 plus the bonus, Rando pulls up next to the #38 car. Fabio grabs the bumper on the M&M's car at 100. Will accelerates out of the Denger line at 120 and catches the #17. Todd takes the Denger line for free at 100.

The Hairpin levies some wear this turn (13 total).

Turn 8 Results

Mike takes the line at 100 for 2 wear and passes the #3, sliding in on the bumper of the #50 car. John gets the initiative at 100 and drops 2 wear on the Hairpin line. At 80, Chris loses a wear in the Hairpin 60's. Rando has the initiative at 100 and takes the line for 2 wear. At 80, Cody follows the #18 on the line, shedding 2 wear. Will gets the jump at 100 and takes the Hairpin 80's for 2 wear. At 80, Fabio follows the line and drops a wear for the privilege. Todd drivers uber-safe at 80 and grabs the line.
