The dice gods were feeling generous after their vacation (thanks for waking them up, Cody).

Testing out new logos - see the bottom right corner of the track.

Of general interest: One of the newbie drivers in C2 dropped out. Doug Schulz, who has played a significant role in keeping PBEM & tournament Speed Circuit relevant, is replacing him. Good luck, Doug! Or should I say good luck to the rest of the field? :laugh:

Turn 9 Summary
Cody tests his top speed to travel 160 with 1sp (modified 4). He pulls away from the chase pack. Fabio drops a wear in the Gaziantep line at 140. Steve takes the Gaziantep line for free at 120 but stays on the #17's tail with the slip. Todd burns a wear in Gaziantep at 140 on the line. He grabs the bumper of the #24 car. Tim comes out of Adana at 140 to take the Gaziantep line for a wear. Brad continues through Adana, putt-putting at 120, then blocking the Gaziantep line for those to follow. Mike takes the Adana line for free and pulls up to the inside lane in front of Gaziantep. At 160, Kal pays a wear for the Adana line and cuts through traffic to pull in front of the stars & stripes (note the #3 cannot use the line). Will takes the Adana line for free at 140 and races to the inside of the #50. John finishes the Bursa line at 120 and ends on the other side of Adana. At 120, Chris uses the Bursa line for free and sits on the Adana line ready to race out. Rando takes the Bursa line for free as he hordes wear like a sailor hordes...hordes... I don't know. Rando, what do sailors horde?

Our first NPR! Steve, you with us? Fortunately, his NPR plot was not too damaging.

Turn 10 Summary
Cody rolls the bones one more time to maintain 160 with 1sp (modified 5). He stays two ahead of Fabio, also plotting 160. Steve NPR's and takes a plot of 140 on the outside lane. Must've got an important text from home! Todd uses all of his massive engine to hit his top speed of 180. Tim ramps up to 160 into the straight by virtue of the increasing limit in Gaziantep. Mike takes the Gaziantep 120's at 140 for a wear. Kal saves wear in the 120's at 120, tucking in behind the #25. Will drops 2 wear in the Gaziantep 120's, passes the #3 on the straight, and pulls astride of the Marines car. Brad takes the Gaziantep line for a wear at 140, also passing the #3, and pulls up 3-wide next to the #6. At 120, John takes the Gaziantep line for free and is ready to accelerate out next turn. Chris burns a wear at 140 on the Gaziantep line. Rando sheds a wear at 160 on the Adana line and grabs the Gaziantep line for next turn.

Some of the money for the engine came from buying my brakes from a junk yard. Let's see how that works out for me. :grin:

I guess the dice gods appreciate a slow, steady diet. Lots of spread in this race but things might get a bit crowded going into Konya next turn for the middle group.

Turn 11 Summary
Cody pulls up to the Konya line at 140. At 160, Fabio is able to close in on the #38. Both Todd and Tim plot 140 to stay side by side in the straightaway. Will gets the initiative from the three-wide at 180, showing off his stout engine. Brad moves next by pushing his engine to 180 with 1sp (modified 6) to keep up with the #6. At 160, Mike grabs the bumper on the Valvoline car. Kal races up on the tailpipe of the #50 at 160 plus the bonus. John drops the hammer at 180. Chris increases speed to 160 (by virtue of the increasing limit in Gaziantep). Rando takes the Gaziantep line at 160 for 2 wear and stays on the #20.

Turn 12 Deadline: Soft deadline is June 11th @ 9 p.m. EDT (June 12th @ 1 a.m. GMT). Hard deadline is Monday, June 15th @ 12 noon EDT (4 p.m. GMT)

Side comment: I really like the stock cars. The color schemes are cool and it gives me more flexibility in my commentary. I plan to stick with them throughout season 2.

Back on schedule this week...

Turn 12 Summary
Cody drops his speed to 80, takes the Konya line for free, and burns a wear in the Antalya 60's. At 120, Fabio drops 2 wear in the Konya line then 2 more in the Antalya 80's, pulling up to the M&M's car for the exit. Steve has the initiative over Todd at 120 and dumps 2 wear on the Konya line. Todd follows the Dupont car on the line at 100 for a wear. Tim pulls up to Konya on the line at 140. Will plots 160 and gives up the line for an inside position. At 160, Brad grabs the open line as he keeps up with the Valvoline car. Mike makes it three wide going into Konya at 160 and the slip. Kal tucks in behind the #6 at 140 plus the slip. John continues his rampage down the long straight at 180. Chris maxes his engine at 160. Rando pulls alongside the Home Depot car at 160 with the bonus.

Turn 13 Summary
Cody pushes his engine on acceleration w/ 1sp (modified 4) so that he can push his engine on top speed w/ 1sp (modified 8). The dice gods like Cody as he sprints out of Antalya at 160. Fabio keeps up with the Dewalt car, also at 160. Steve takes the Antalya line for 2 wear at 120. Todd drops to 80 as he conserves wear in the Antalya 80's. Tim tears through the Konya 80's for 2 followed by the Antalya line for another 2. Mike grabs the initiative at 140 (a bit more than needed) then drops the car to 120 before the corner (naked 7). He follows the #21 car's route through Konya & Antalya for a total of 4 wear. At 100 Will takes the Konya 80's for a wear and grabs the Antalya line for a 2nd wear. Brad drops a wear in the Konya line at 100 and another in the Antalya 80's. Kal saves his wear at 80, taking the Konya line for free. John, eschewing the line, hits the Konya 80's for 2 wear. Chris pulls up to Konya on the line at 140. Rando comes inside of the #20 car at 140.

Color me crazy, but I think I still have a chance to pass a few cars. Especially if I remain careful while colluding (strike that) negotiating (strike that) communicating with my fellow racers.

16 wear in one turn! I trust Rando and Chris will also be doing it the hard way coming into the double corner at break neck speed.

Turn 14 Results
Cody continues at 160 with 1sp on the top speed table (modified 2), drops to 140 before the corner for a wear, then takes the 100's for 2 more. Fabio takes the lead by dropping inside of Cody on the 80's at 120 for 2 wear. Steve scoots along at 140 on the straight. Tim maxes his engine at 160 and tucks in behind the #24 car. Mike pulls up next the Air Force car at 160 and the bonus. Todd pushes his engine to accelerate to 160 with 2sp (modified 3) and grabs the tailpipe of the #21 car. Will finishes the Antalya line at 100. Brad also completes Antalya at 100 to stay with the #6 car. Kal drops 2 wear in the Antalya 60's at 100, grabbing the bumper on the Valvoline car. John takes the Antalya line for free at 80. Rando takes the Konya 60 for 2 wear at 100 then, denied the Antalya line, uses the 80's for another wear. At 80, Chris takes the Konya line for free followed by the Antalya 60's for a wear.

That was an on-track disaster which never would have happened in real life. Spent 2 more wear than Chris and he passed me. Now I'm back in last place.

Oh well, guess I'll just have to get smarter, or something.

Turn 15 Summary
Fabio starts the Ankara line at 140. Also at 140, Cody cannot use the line but takes the lead on the inside. Steve NPR's and the GM plot has him at 120 in the Istanbul 100's for 1 wear. Tim starts at 140 the drops to 120 with a roll on the brake table, 1sp applied (modified 7). He drops 2 wear in the Istanbul 80's. Mike takes the Istanbul 100's for 1 wear at 120. Todd uses the Istanbul 80's for a wear at 100 and pulls inside if Mike with the slip from the #21 car. Will takes the straight at 160, opting for the outside lane. Brad, also at 160, takes the middle. Kal makes it 3-wide going into Istanbul at 160 plus the slip on the #6. John rolls on the acceleration table with 2 sp (modified 4) to drop the hammer and hit his max speed of 180. Chris is the beneficiary of the double slip as he tests his engine with 1sp (modified 6) to go 160, pulling alongside the Texaco car. Rando hits the straight at 160 with a feeling of loneliness.
