The WBC's (World Boardgaming Championships) are coming up in August (3-9) and will be in Lancaster, PA for the final time*. Diplomacy has been an event for the past three years after a 3-year hiatus (and goes way back prior to that) so hopefully it's back on the agenda. Right now the WBC website shows no GM commitment - maybe an opportunity for some of you more organized types.

I do see Kevin Youells, a Redscape old-timer, as GM for Advanced Civ. Good on ya, Kevin!

I'm hoping to attend for a day or two though I'd probably play Speed Circuit or a Euro. I'm afraid I'm not cut out for tournament Diplomacy. Now a house game, that's something else...

*Note: The WBC's are not ending, they're just relocating in 2016.

The Diplomacy tournament at WBC appears to be set for Friday, August 7th & Saturday, August 8th (well, that's what the tourney director has requested).

I will not be at YorkCon this year, but I plan to make ManorCon which is also hosting the European Diplomacy Championship this year.

I've found the top three finishers from the WDC's in Milan but I can't find any details on the internets. This info is from Wikipedia:

1st: Toby Harris (UK)
2nd: Rubén Sanchez García Luengo de Madrid (France & Spain?)
3rd: Thomas Haver (US)

If anyone has a results link or additional info, please post.

Toby is promising to be at ManorCon. He tends not to play in the UK based tournaments as much as he does the big European ones (and of course the US trips). He's about the best British player.
